It was even more than a David vs. Goliath matchup — at least people knew David’s name — as Tyson was at the peak of his dominance and Buster was his tune-up fight for something greater. 42-1, named after the odds Vegas set against Buster, smartly pays more attention to the enigma who was the unknown challenger, while also giving us highlight footage of Mike sending people’s jaws to the moon. DANGEROUS WATERS [Momentum Generation]( [Momentum Generation is no day on the beach]( Tuesday at 10/9c on HBO If people punching each other in the nose isn’t your idea of a sports doc, HBO’s look at the evolution of the surfing scene from novelty sideshow to rebellious counterculture is shouting, “Yo bro, over here!” The special examines how a group of young friends, including future legends like Kelly Slater, Rob Machado and Taylor Knox, escaped abusive households to find freedom on the waves, and were pitted against each other as the surfing scene blew up. It’s like the Dogtown and Z Boys of the ocean, and it’s beautiful. READ OUR LIPS [Darci Lynne]( [Darci Lynne: My Hometown Christmas brings back AGT’s star]( Tuesday at 9/8c on NBC Most winners of [America’s Got Talent]( are happy to sing the National Anthem at a Minor League Baseball game, but 14-year-old ventriloquist [Darci Lynne]( — who won in 2017 — is no ordinary AGT winner. NBC has kept the darling voice-thrower on speed dial, and My Hometown Christmas is her first solo TV special. It won’t just be her and puppets, either; she’ll be joined by [Kristin Chenoweth]( [Toby Keith]( and others.
