Alibaba Pictures Has Acquired India's TicketNew Alibaba Pictures Group has purchased a majority stake in the Indian online ticketing company TicketNew. This move marks its first expansion in the sector outside China. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
21st Century Fox's FoxNext Acquires Mobile Game Studio FoxNext, the recently created gaming, virtual reality and theme parks division of 21st Century Fox, is making its way into the $40 billion mobile games market with the acquisition of mobile-game developer Aftershock. Approximately 80 former Kabam employees will join FoxNext Games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Snap Inc. Acquires a Startup That Maps Store Visits to Digital Ads
Snapchat's parent company, Snap, has acquired Placed, a startup that tracks consumersâ in person visits to retail outlets and links those visits with online advertising campaigns. Snap is paying around $125 million for Placed, according to a [Bloomberg report]( however, tech-news site [GeekWire reported]( that the deal was worth more than $200 million. Snap has yet to disclose the terms of the deal.
Amazon and Vimeo Join Day of Action For Net Neutrality
A band of tech companies, which include Amazon, Reddit, Vimeo and Kickstarter is mobilizing for a [day of action to save net neutrality]( on July 12th. The day of action is a response to the FCCâs plans to dismantle key net neutrality rules, which basically treat internet and wireless providers like public utilities, barring them from prioritizing any services on their networks.
Bozoma Saint Johnson Joins Uber as its New Content Brand Officer
Bozoma Saint John has said goodbye to Apple and hello to Uber. The former global head of consumer marketing will now join Uber as its new Content Brand Officer. According to a statement from Uber, she will be âcharged with helping build a deeper, more meaningful connection between Uber and its customers.â
Vivendi Acquires a Majority Stake in Havas For $2.5 Billion
For an estimated $2.5 billion, Vivendi, the parent company of Universal Music Group and Canal Plus Group, has acquired a 60% stake in Havas, an advertising and communication group, from Bolloré Group. Havas is estimated to be the worldâs sixth largest advertising and communication group, at 9.25 euros a share.
Thaicom, Huawei, and Starcor Partner For OTT Broadcasting
Thaicom, which provides satellite communications services, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Huawei and Starcor âto create value-added services for the next-generation OTT platformâ for the business, education, government and telecom sectors in Thailand, [The Nation](. âThe companies agreed to develop content-rich OTT ecosystem services, including TV streaming and video on demand,â the agreement stated.
