UK's History Channel Is Hitting Facebook Live for a Six Hour Stream
The History channel in the U.K. is launching a six-hour Facebook Live event on Oct. 8, giving viewers a taste of an upcoming season of World War II programming being aired under the âWorld War Trueâ banner. The live stream "WW2 House Live,â will be set in a 1940s home as wartime speeches and bulletins are played. The setting will be updated periodically to reflect the ongoing passage of the conflict.
Amazon Secures Rights to Gangster Film '4 Blocks'
Amazon Prime has secured global rights to â4 Blocks,â the Berlin-set gangster drama that made its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. The series, produced by TNT Serie and Wiedemann & Berg, was previously broadcast on TNT in Germany, Romania and Poland, where it was well received.
Mashable is in Talks of Selling the Company (Report)
Mashable has engaged in discussions with ProSiebenSat.1 about a possible sale, the Wall Street Journal reported. The New York-based company had been trying to raise additional investment from a strategic investor but is ânow leaning toward an all-out sale, the Journal reported, citing unnamed sources.
Instagram Now has 500 Million Active Users a Day
Instagram has added 100 million monthly active users over the past five months. The company announced the news at Adweek in New York Monday. The Facebook-owned platform now has 800 million monthly active users and 500 million daily active users.
Netflix is Pitching Airlines on In-Flight Streaming
Starting in 2018, Netflix will extend bandwidth-efficient technology built for mobile devices to airline carriers across the globe. The company hopes that more airlines will partner with it to offer low-cost or free Wi-Fi entertainment to passengers. According to the streaming giant, using the mobile-encoding technology, passengers can watch Netflix in high quality while airline carriers save up to 75% in bandwidth costs.
