Both give some great off-road performance options and retro touches, while still providing great value. To many people, they’re the best trucks in the nine trim spread. And now, you can configure each on Jeep’s website. Here’s all the options you need to know. At the basic level, the Willys and Willys Sport get the same off-road components, only the Willys Sport lacks some of the technology and features of the regular Willys. This leaves room for a $3,750 difference in the MSRP, with the Willys actually being the more expensive of the two, at $39,240. The regular Willys can also add more optional extras, whereas its little sibling only has a few. The pair get an identical exterior design, with a gloss black grille, wheels and badging, plus black plastic grille. To designate these models, there’s a black “WILLYS” grille badge and “4 Wheel Drive” graphic on the tailgate. The design harkens back to the original Willys Jeep, and looks all the better for it. The Jeep Gladiator Willys models are very off-road capable, too. They have 32 inch mud terrain tires, 4×4, and a limited slip rear differential. Willys customers can upgrade the 4×4 system to the Selec-Trac full time 4wd system for $695. Powertrain options are familiar to any Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator, with the Pentastar V6 or new for 2021 EcoDiesel V6 available. The gas engine can have either a six speed manual or eight speed auto, whereas the diesel is auto only. Both are offered in the same eight color palette, and come standard with a black soft top. The Willys models can also option side rails, a spray in bedliner, and three tonneau bed cover options. On the inside, the pair offer black or tan cloth seats, a $350 Trailer Tow Package, a $295 Auxiliary Switch Group, a $40 Windshield Tie Down Strap and $30 Smoker Group. The main differences between the Jeep Gladiator Willys models are in equipment. The Willys Sport comes with a 5.0 inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, whereas the Willys gets a 7.0 inch system as standard. The Willys can option a $1,995 8.4 inch infotainment package, $1,295 Alpine Premium Audio System, $995 Active Safety group, $795 Adaptive Cruise and Collision Warning pack and $695 Cold Weather pack. The Willys Sport doesn’t get any of those optional packages. The original Creta set the benchmark for more mid-size SUVs to follow as it dominated the segment for nearly five years. The Kia Seltos launched in August 2019 turned out to be a huge success for the Hyundai subsidiary. It took the place of the Hyundai Creta at the top of the sales charts for many months due to its premium package stuffed with an appealing equipment list. However, the new-gen Hyundai Creta got back to its glory within a few weeks of its market debut as it rose to the top again. The mid-size SUV has been dominating the proceedings in recent months as it emerged as the largest selling SUV for four consecutive months. The Creta’s range will be expanded further mostly next year as a seven-seater that could be dubbed the Alcazar is expected by the middle of 2021. Caught already testing in its home market of South Korea, the three-row SUV will follow the latest trend of the mid-size premium SUVs receiving more passenger accommodating variants – MG Hector Plus and upcoming Tata Gravitas are prime examples. The Alcazar could have minor frontal styling updates compared to the five-seater Creta while the side profile will likely boast a longer rear overhang to accommodate the final row of seats. In addition, the changes to liberate more space meant that the rear could be redesigned with new tail lamps and tailgate structure. The bootspace capacity could also be sacrificed by some margin with the inclusion of the third row. The existing Creta’s design is borrowed from the latest iX25 sold in China and it gets a host of features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with BlueLink connectivity, seven-inch instrument cluster, eight-speaker Bose audio, ambient lighting, leather seats, panoramic sunroof, and so on. We reckon these features to be part of the Alcazar’s equipment list as well. We used to love sedans, but they’re slowly falling out of favor for yet more amorphous CUVs. Brands are losing their uniquely recognizable cars and our roads look all the drearier for it. But it wasn’t that long ago that the common sedan was considered the most “boring” car out there and we used to whine about those cars becoming too plain and common. However, some brands are still holding out on the sedan market – usually because they have twice as many SUVs in their lineup to keep funding cars for people with a sense of individuality. Lexus is one such brand. Lexus owes its whole existence to a sedan, the legendary LS 400. Since that car launched Lexus in the US in 1989, Lexus sedans have been staple products for the brand, defining its design language and its unique approach to luxury and performance. But with two of its sedans both competing in the mid-size class, Lexus’ lineup looks a little confusing and redundant. However, the ES and GS models in question couldn’t be more different. Both are bigger than the entry-level IS but smaller and cheaper than the full-size flagship LS. And that is just about where the similarities end. The ES is a soft, comfortable FWD car based on the Toyota Camry and the GS is a rear-drive proto-sports sedan that’s seeing a renaissance as a platform for drifting. Unfortunately, that’s the one that Lexus will be killing off at the end of 2020, but before it goes, we should give it the attention it deserves. We also shouldn’t discount the ES. It may not have the sporting pretensions of the GS, but not everyone needs a RWD chassis nor controllable oversteer from their cars and the ES serves its intended purpose excellently, better than a lot of premium FWD cars. Let’s compare the pros and cons of the Lexus ES and GS sedans and make some sense of the surprisingly huge differences between the two. The Family Tree Both the ES and GS models have been around for quite some time now. The ES beat the GS to market by about two years, launching alongside the LS400 in 1989, ahead of the GS in 1991, but most of those original models have all but disappeared by now. The earliest ES that should be more recognizable is the second generation, the XV10, which launched in 1991. It was available with a manual transmission, but those are exceptionally rare. Perhaps the most common ES design is the fourth-generation XV30 pictured above. It looks the closest to the Camry on which all ES’ are based, and to drive it was a similar experience as the “lesser” Toyota. It used the same 3.0l 1MZ-FE V6, a staunchly reliable but soulless powerplant. It was a good car but a sports sedan it wasn’t. On the other hand, the GS comes from a long line of sedans with sporting intentions, most prominently in its second-generation (JZS160) form pictured above. [Read more…]( The post [Lexus ES Vs GS: The Pros And Cons]( first appeared on [TheAutomobileNews.com](.
