[MG GLOSTERâS FEATURES, SPECS AND PRICE A REVIEW](
Morris Garages has shown Gloster in India earlier this year. The full-size SUV made its debut at Auto Expo 2020 and its basically a fourth launch from the MG in the market after the Hector, ZS EV and Hector Plus. This refined version of Maxus D90 is the most premium SUV from the MG and it is worth supposing that it will beat; at least compete with other SUVs in the Indian car industry. Safety culture is being promoted in the auto industry all over the world and MG has emerged with a pro-active approach in this regard. The company has teased its consumers with a video showing some cool and much-needed safety features in the new SUV.
BREAKING THE ICE
Letâs get straight to the most appealing features that Gloster is offering. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is one of the safety features provided in the SUV. ACC makes use of sensors and visuals via cameras to understand the road traffic condition and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. But in extremely congested roads, this feature is not helpful yet its costs much high in vehicle production. That is why only luxury vehicles have this feature on board like Mercedes-Benz S-class, Range Rover and Volvoâs all variants.
Another safety feature provided in this SUV is Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), this helps in emergency conditions when brake application lag is crucial. Before you can realize a hazard, AEB does its job and keeps you safe from colliding or getting into an accident. Human beings are not as vigilant as AEB, and this is what the deal is.
And the last one boasted feature in the video is Hands-free Auto Parking, this uses sensors to park the SUV in a sweet spot without giving trouble to your hands and mind. But this feature is not much of a new hype, its already being offered in many other vehicles in India.
SPECIFICATIONS
The Gloster will be available in both petrol and diesel variant with the same capacity as 2.0L. Petrol engine produces 224hp and offers a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed auto transmission. Diesel engine produces 218hp and a hefty 480Nm of torque, thanks to the twin-turbo. This engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission for better utilization of diesel torque and that too with freedom of sudden acceleration; in case needed. A 4WD option will also be provided.
The SUV may get a 7 seating capacity or a 6 but this totally depends upon the configuration which is selected by the maker. No matter what the configuration would be, it will have plenty of room available for passengers. Dimensions of Gloster follow as 5,005 mm in length, 1,875 mm in height, 1,932 mm in width and span of wheelbase is 2,950 mm.
Features for survival
Human race has proven the theory of survival of the fittest and now the auto industry is proving it. Its already 2020 here and auto industry is offering meaningful new features with every new generation. Those with lesser offerings are not enjoying bulky sales due to consumerâs sense of technology. Gloster has such features to keep it going with the fleet. These features include panoramic sunroof, adaptive LED headlights, gesture-controlled tailgate, heated wing mirrors, ambient lighting, an 8.0-inch digital instrument screen, three-zone auto climate control and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Safety is not forgotten in Gloster in any shape or kind, so it offers a blind spot mirror, curtain airbags for all three rows and a traction control system. Leaving survival game behind and excelling, Gloster will be having leather upholstery, ventilation functions, powered front seats and a 360-degree camera.
Worth buying?
The expected price of MG Gloster is Rs. 35-40 lacs (ex-showroom) and this is where the debate ends even before starting. The luxury SUV is offering all of the mainstream features with an extra topping of some safety features that are not yet seen on other non-luxury vehicles. Gloster has everything which is needed and none which is not and this helps in setting its price in a mediocre range. So If you want to enjoy SUV with a taste of luxury but without spending your whole, MGâs Gloster is a go-ahead for you.

[Students of IIT BHU develop all-new hydrogen-powered vehicular prototype](
A team of students from IIT BHU have become one of the first student-based communities in India to have built a hydrogen-based vehicle prototype.
Hydrogen-powered vehicles have for long been touted as a step towards promoting green mobility. In fact, they have potential advantages over battery-powered cars, including quicker refueling and longer range.
Students of IIT BHU have become one of the first student-based communities in India to have built a hydrogen-based vehicle prototype. Called Averera, the team of the automobile enthusiasts, developed the hydrogen-powered Urban-concept car at the Asia leg of the Shell Eco-marathon 2020.
Averera was founded in 2013 with the vision to to develop Indiaâs most efficient EV. âLater, (we) found Shell Eco-marathon as an international platform that has a similar vision of efficient mobility,â says Dr Amitesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering at IIT (BHU) and the team mentor.
Under his guidance, the concept of hydrogen-powered vehicle was first proposed in 2019 and took a period of 10 months to be completely ready as a manufactured prototype. The prototype is governed by aerodynamics, aesthetics and optimal weight distribution for maneuverability and driver safety. It uses carbon fibre wheels which prevent the turbulent airflow expected for a spoked wheel. Weight of conventional hand-brake actuation has been reduced.
To incorporate the hydrogen technology in the vehicle, the student team followed research work by companies like Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo, Tanmay Goyal who handled controls for Averera, tells HT Auto. âWe introduced re-energising of the energy dissipated in braking to produce hydrogen on board while driving the car.â
The team believes that converting on-road vehicles to hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles may improve air quality, health, and climate significantly. In fact, it can further cover up the loopholes in electric vehicles. âWhile EVs require significant time for recharging its battery, fuel cell vehicles can be refuelled with H-gas easily like a petrol/diesel car,â says Shubham Yadav who contributed to the Hydrogen Fuel Cell department of Averera.
Looking at the safety angle of hydrogen in vehicles, its production, storage and transportation have posed a threat to safety. However, âresearch on the safe production of the gas, itâs storage at hydrogen stations and installation of the fuel cell is on progress in the industriesâ, says Rishabh Singh of Electronics at Averera.
The student team has implemented safety norms for onboard hydrogen-safety in the prototype. âWe have developed a hydrogen detection sensor to detect the presence of the gas in driver and fuel cell compartments,â adds Singh. In case of gas leakage or malfunctioning, there is a provision to kill the circuit automatically and stop the vehicle.

[Is The Lincoln Continental The Greatest Mafia Car Of All Time?](
Lincoln Continental which is one of the finest Lincoln car models, had been the style of the American mafia, for over five decades.
Which classic cars were mafiaâs favorites during olden times? If you were a gangster in the 40s or 50s, what car would you want to drive? Something that gets you away from the spot, lightning-fast, or, would you prefer a flashy status symbol? At the end of the day, what is the use of all this money and power if you canât show it off a little? Nobody likes to wait at the crime spot, only to be caught and jailed away! Criminals, robbers, or mafia, they all used to prefer faster getaways and less suspicious cars for obvious reasons, since the beginning of time.
But during the Great Depression, a strange but funny thing happened. Gangsters started investing in flashy, expensive cars. Chevrolet Impala, Rolls â Royce Silver Ghost, Bentley Blower, and above all, Lincoln Continental seduced the roads when their rogue (most of the time) owners drove out.
Lincoln Continental which is one of the finest Lincoln car models, had been the style of the American mafia, for over five decades. It had all the qualities a crime overlord looked for. The beast turned heads, showed off wealth, and most of all, looked menacing. An extremely low frame, sitting on 22-inch wheels, induced fear into those who looked their way. Dark gray and black color schemes more than compensated for everything else. Lincolnâs Limited run Continental complete with suicide doors, gave another dimension to the whole effect!
Below are some more juicy details about the mean era of mafia Continental cars.
Featured In Numerous Mafia Films Most Notably, The Godfather
The Continental has been featured as mobster cars in a number of movies and TV series, since its launch in 1939. First choice of the directors for such movies, it has starred in more than 2100 films & shows, according to IMDB. In the famous car chase thriller movie, The French Connection, drug smugglers used the model to peddle drugs and the car took more than half of the screen space. Needless to say that caught lots of attention. Sonny Corleoneâs favorite car in The Godfather, it again featured in the movie series when Michael used the Continental Limo in NYC. Gotti is another movie, based on the crime boss and most notorious gangster Gotti, where Continental starred in crucial scenes.
Paul Castellano Drove Lincoln Continental
Lincoln Town car was used as a getaway for the killers after they murdered the boss of the Gambino gang, Paul Castellano. Apparently, he loved the Lincolns. On the night of his death, Paul was off to enjoy a dinner at Sparkâs steakhouse in Manhattan. After he pulled up, as soon as he got out, he was murdered by the men of John Gotti, the infamous mafia boss. There are conspiracy theories doing rounds on the internet, that Gotti personally supervised the incident and then escaped with his men in the 1985 Town car.
Richard Kuklinski The Iceman, Dreamt Of Owning One
In his book The Ice Man: Confessions Of A Mafia Contract Killer, Richard, the Iceman, professed his love for the Lincoln Continental several times. When he was a teen, he resolved to buy a fancy car of his own â either a Cadillac or a Lincoln Continental. He did manage to buy his dream car though, after he became a successful contract killer. He recalls an incident in his book when he had just murdered a man with his bare hands. His clothes and shoes were filled with blood. That day he drove butt naked, in his Continental, back to his place. The scene was filmed as such in the movie The Iceman, made on his life.
