this is not a joke ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

this is not a joke (or is it?) ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  A couple weeks back I was running through a muddy trail near my house, my sneakers caked in dirt and pine sap, feeling sad about letting go of this iteration of my business, when I had an epiphany. "OMG." I thought to myself. "I DON’T HAVE TO USE TEAMWORK ANYMORE!" Thank you Jesus Amen I am the world’s smartest person it is known. A rush of relief washed over me. Maybe I might actually be okay. Every week in September my OBM Sandra and I had a Zoom call to figure out everything we needed to do to scale down. [Tarzan and Sandra standing in Sandra's living room] We dropped software like Wagepoint (for managing payroll) and 15Five (for managing team performance), which you don’t really need if you don’t have employees. We renegotiated our recurring commitments to certain contractors, and, glory of glories, figured out a new task management process that doesn’t involve me using Teamwork, our any project management software, which I’ve always loathed. Every week there’s been a little more letting go. It feels so good to do less. Sandra’s been getting more and more inquiries from business owners who want her online business management skills, but so far she’s refused them all. Like me, she’s taking space to work on other projects. One of those projects is her [mentorship program thru]( Studio]( (not an affiliate link), which she’s just opened. It’s a program for virtual assistants who want to have a profitable VA business and healthy client relationships. I’m going to spill Sandra’s "secret" to finding and retaining clients, so that everyone can benefit whether you train with her or not. Here it is: She is very fckn good at her job. When entrepreneurs talk to me about burnout, or share how they let their team go too because they just didn’t like managing people, I really can’t relate. Sandra protected me from all that. Even now, every time I get a software charge that I’m not sure about, I have to Slack her and say, "What is this again? Why am I paying for it?" because I’ve relied on her so fully to manage almost every single one of our tools, including our email marketing software ActiveCampaign. I’ve written many love emails about Sandra because she is so talented, so experienced and works with so much integrity. She has run hundreds of launches for her clients. I know for a fact there is only one Sandra Booker in the world, and I’ve been lucky to have her at my side for the last seven years. I can tell you unequivocally that I would not have gotten where I did without her. We’ve shared more than just business, we’ve also shared wine, laughter and buckets of tears, even major life moments like death and divorce. I couldn’t write a simple sales email for her VA Studio Mentorship Program without mentioning how dear she is to me. We’ve been lucky to have each other. If you want to have the kind of career she does, and have clients talk this way about working with YOU, her program might be a good fit for you. And if not, well I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to talk about how glorious and wonderful and smart she is. [Follow this link to learn about her program —>]( XOT P.S. You won’t hear from me next week since I’m taking a 4-day solo canoe trip to Algonquin. 🛶🏕 I’m really proud of myself just saying that, but the truth is it’s just a few days away and I’m totally unprepared. I still don’t know how to read a compass and the one time I tried to flip a canoe over my head to carry it, my leg and neck turned all purple with bruises. But I have neoprene socks, a new pair of Tevas and an inflated sense of self-confidence, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be okay. P.P.S. Your replies to my emails have been overwhelmingly awesome. Thank you! I’m going to host a 30-minute Q+A just for fun when I get back, to catch up and say hi. Anyone can come and you won’t have to register or anything. I’ll just send out a Zoom link. Super low-key.
