Friends, What a year it has been! As we look back on 2022, my mind is on Iran, my birthplace, where women and men have been protesting with incredible courage for their basic rights and dignity, defying increasing violence and repression as they continue to fight. Here at home, I am inspired by people across the country pushing back in different ways against extreme [abortion restrictions](. In my own work, I have been [reflecting]( on how our legal system can better support survivors of gender violence. Just before Christmas, on the heels of Harvey Weinstein’s conviction in Los Angeles for rape and other crimes, I [wrote]( in the New York Times about how New York can change its evidence rules to better hold serial abusers accountable. In case you missed it, here are my other pieces in the Times this year: a [review]( of John Wood Sweet’s book about the first reported rape trial in the Unites States, and, prompted by Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial, an [essay]( about jury selection. I also recently [wrote]( about how defamation suits should not be weaponized against women who report their sexual assaults.  I am very excited to share that, last month, I joined [Kaplan Hecker & Fink]( to work on public interest litigation. And I have loved continuing to break down legal events on NBC News & MSNBC.  [Breaking down the]( [Explaining NY AG’s lawsuit against Trump]( [Examining Trump’s declassification defense]( [Discussing AG Garland's statements]( I have also been thinking about how prosecutors (not just television analysts!) can better explain what they do, and spoke about it [here]( Best of all, I have been lucky to spend lots of time with my girls this year. Here they are at a family wedding this summer: My gratitude for you remains a constant! Thank you for your continued friendship and support. Drop me a line if you can – I would love to hear from you. Boaz, the girls and I wish you and your families a very happy New Year.  Tali Tali Farhadian Weinstein | 217 E 70th street, PO BOX 750, New York, NY 10021 [Unsubscribe {EMAIL}]( [Update Profile]( | [Constant Contact Data Notice]( Sent by tali@talifarhadianweinstein.com in collaboration with [Trusted Email from Constant Contact - Try it FREE today.]( [Try email marketing for free today!](
