[padding] [If you are unable to view this message correctly, click here]( [padding] [stuff header] [spacer] [padding] Hi {NAME}, I’m one of those people who changes their sheets every few days - a week at the absolute outside. So it’s probably just as well I don’t actually mind doing laundry. In fact, I used to consider it somewhat of a hobby, with a great reward; new clothes! (Then I had three children and the sheen went off it a little.) Even in all my years of laundry-loving, I never re-washed clothes after they’d been rained on. I’m firmly in the “that’s an extra rinse cycle, leave them to dry again” camp. But, there are two sides to every story, as my colleague Colleen Hawkes found when she [looked into the surprisingly involved facts]( of the matter. Things got heated in the comments section, with someone going as far as to say not only should we re-wash and dry in full sunshine, but that ironing is “key to killing bacteria”. Another pushed the debate out to talk of dehumidifiers and the “enthalpy of vaporisation”. (I Googled it: It’s a thing!) In the absence of any health implications, it comes down to personal preference. Either way, I’m pleased we hang our washing outside to dry here, as is less common in many other countries. One commenter nailed the sentiment for me when they said: “There is nothing like sweet-smelling washing that's been blowing in the wind and sun.” Here’s hoping for a good-drying weekend.
