The NBA: - After being the first commissioner to suspend his league's season, Adam Silver [added some context]( last night to the league's shutdown, noting that the NBA not returning at all this season is on the table: - "Of course it's possible. I just don't know more at this point. There's another factor that may go to the seasonality of this virus. - "Again, I've talked to a lot of experts … some have a theory that just as with the common flu that as the weather changes, we may see it begin to peter out a little bit. Again, we just don't know. At this point we're just waiting." The NCAA: - The men's and women's NCAA basketball tournaments are canceled -- [not suspended, but canceled](. After announcing all tournament games would be played in front of virtually empty arenas on Wednesday, the decision was made Thursday to cancel them entirely. That means the NCAA won't have a men's basketball champion for the first time since 1937. - In addition to basketball, all other NCAA spring sports seasons are canceled. - Side note: For teams like Rutgers, Seton Hall, Dayton and San Diego State who are having unusually good seasons, the news Thursday was especially heartbreaking. The MLS: - The MLS [tweeted a statement]( on Thursday morning saying it has suspended its season 30 days. - "At the appropriate time, the league and clubs will communicate plans for the continuation of the 2020 season." The XFL: - On Thursday night, the XFL announced the suspension of its season. The league is allowing players to sign immediately with NFL teams, and remains committed to playing in 2021. - XFL commissioner Oliver Luck also said all players will be paid their 2020 base salaries. - The Guardians were 3-2 through five games.
