Good morning, 👋 and welcome to The Warm-Up!
Need a pick-me-up? SNY re-aired Johan Santana's no-hitter last night. Watch the last out [here](.

Today's word count: 560 words (about five minutes)
---------------------------------------------------------------
1. The latest on every league and organization
Rick Scuteri/USA Today
MLB:
- Effective at 4 p.m. Thursday, [spring training games were suspended and the regular season was pushed back]( at least two weeks, MLB announced.
- You can read MLB's full statement [here](.
- According to SNY's Andy Martino, the Mets [will keep]( their spring training complex open to players for now.
The NHL:
- The league paused its season Thursday, [saying it hopes to continue]( playing at a time that was "appropriate and prudent."
The NBA:
- After being the first commissioner to suspend his league's season, Adam Silver [added some context]( last night to the league's shutdown, noting that the NBA not returning at all this season is on the table:
- "Of course it's possible. I just don't know more at this point. There's another factor that may go to the seasonality of this virus.
- "Again, I've talked to a lot of experts … some have a theory that just as with the common flu that as the weather changes, we may see it begin to peter out a little bit. Again, we just don't know. At this point we're just waiting."
The NCAA:
- The men's and women's NCAA basketball tournaments are canceled -- [not suspended, but canceled](. After announcing all tournament games would be played in front of virtually empty arenas on Wednesday, the decision was made Thursday to cancel them entirely. That means the NCAA won't have a men's basketball champion for the first time since 1937.
- In addition to basketball, all other NCAA spring sports seasons are canceled.
- Side note: For teams like Rutgers, Seton Hall, Dayton and San Diego State who are having unusually good seasons, the news Thursday was especially heartbreaking.
The MLS:
- The MLS [tweeted a statement]( on Thursday morning saying it has suspended its season 30 days.
- "At the appropriate time, the league and clubs will communicate plans for the continuation of the 2020 season."
The XFL:
- On Thursday night, the XFL announced the suspension of its season. The league is allowing players to sign immediately with NFL teams, and remains committed to playing in 2021.
- XFL commissioner Oliver Luck also said all players will be paid their 2020 base salaries.
- The Guardians were 3-2 through five games.

2. The last bucket of the men's NCAA basketball season
@CBBonFox/Twitter
While every other conference in college basketball was announcing the cancellation of its tournaments, the Big East Tournament briefly continued, with St. John's and Creighton tipping at Madison Square Garden at 12 p.m. and playing up through halftime.
The game -- and the tournament -- was called at the half, with St. John's leading Creighton at the time, 38-35, which created [this strange]( photo-op.
LJ Figueroa's dime to David Caraher was the game's, the tournament's, and the season's final bucket.
Rutgers, Seton Hall and UConn were all scheduled to play in their respective tournaments Thursday.
