Today's word count: 563 Game 158: A costly mistake helped end the Yankees' winning streak @talkinyanks/Twitter BLUE JAYS 6, YANKEES 5 -- Bronxie's magic ran out last night in a 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays, ending the Yankees' winning streak at seven. AL Wild Card Watch:
- The Red Sox finally won a game, pulling within 1.0 of the Yankees. The Blue Jays are now within 2.0 of New York. Seattle, winners of four in a row, are within a half game of Boston for the second spot.
Two more things:
- Joey Gallo's misplayed pop up above led to a run for the Jays, which one could argue was the difference in the Yankees' loss.
- Gerrit Cole (6 IP, 9 H, 5 ER) looked shaky for a third game in a row. His ERA has gone from 2.75 to 3.23 in his last three starts.

Golden Tate had some pointed criticism for Jason Garrett on Wednesday on Good Morning Football. "I think he could be better," he said of Garrett. "You gotta find a way (to score). You have the personnel. I don't know what the issue is."
Tate also backed Daniel Jones as a franchise QB. [Read more here](. 2. Marcus Maye will [miss the next 3-to-4 weeks]( with an ankle injury. - He was encouraged by New York mayor Bill De Blasio to 'get vaccinated,' [applauded]( by Texas senator Ted Cruz for not doing so, and [chided]( by Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez.
All of those sentiments might mean nothing compared to the other Wednesday news regarding unvaccinated players, particularly in New York and San Francisco. "For what it's worth," said Begley. "A couple people who have known Irving for a while said they'd be surprised if he didn't ultimately comply here and get the COVID vaccination."
