In 2008, the formula for a successful online business was easy: - Write content (on a blog) - Get traffic (from Google) - Monetize (with ads or a product) Today, we have more options for where and how to create, but there’s also a lot more competition for attention. Plus, search engine optimization (SEO) is less of a handout. One thing is for sure: It takes work. And that’s why finding out what works best for today’s business landscape is essential. In today’s newsletter, I’m going to show you a step-by-step growth strategy that I use to get in front of more people. In fact, I used this strategy last week. I’ll show you what I did and how it works. Let’s get unstuck. QUOTE OF THE WEEK “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." – African Proverb THE STORY Last week, Eric Partaker was a guest on the Smart Passive Income Podcast. We discussed several captivating business topics including leadership for new leaders, dealing with failure, and more. At the end of the conversation, I shared a link to his [business coaching bundle](=), which includes freebies for listeners and grows his email list at the same time. You probably didn’t know this, but on the exact same day, I was also a guest on his podcast. He shared a link to some bonuses I offer so my email list could grow, too. We got in front of each other’s audiences, shared our stories, and provided value. Now we can grow our email lists, together. Not only that, but I just linked to his business bundle again here in this newsletter (as you can see above). And (you guessed it) he’s doing the same for me. I’ve spoken about guest podcasting before as a means of growth. However, coordinated collaborations like this take it to a whole new level. Whether it’s with a podcast, YouTube, or even just on social media, when you give together, you grow together. The challenging part is all the scheduling and administrative stuff that comes with a planned attack like this. But I’ll tell you — it’s worth it. So that’s my challenge and call to action for you: find someone to collaborate with. Ideally you can do this to grow your email lists together, which is easier to coordinate than promoting products to each other’s audiences. This also shows the power of getting involved in online communities, because you’re around like-minded people — and potential collaborators — who understand the power of planning in this way. We see this magic everyday in the [SPI All-Access Pass](=) and [SPI Pro](. Here’s the step-by-step rundown, including some tips: #1. Find a person to collaborate with. #2. Plan a date and time to publish simultaneously that works for both parties. You’re going to work backward from that publish date. #3. Plan a date and time to record together. You’ll have to record twice — once for your platform and another for theirs. I prefer one larger time slot to do both back to back, but if you need to schedule two separate times, that’s okay, too. Be sure to mention that you’re both on each other’s platform during the recordings. #4. Have a discussion about what you’re promoting for each other and how you are both going to do it. I set up a landing page for the bonuses I provided to Eric’s audience using a simple landing page builder from ConvertKit. #5. Check-in with each other during the process, even after you’ve both recorded. You don’t want to publish unless you know they’re going to publish too. If you have to delay because of setbacks, be sure to quickly let them know. #6. Hit publish on the same day as your collaborative partner, and enjoy the rewards! #7. BONUS: Be active in their community the day (or week) that you show up on their radar. This is a great way to show up even more for your partner’s people, leaving an epic first impression! I hope you enjoyed this week’s newsletter!
