I’m going to feel old saying this but… The other day, I couldn’t stand the pain in my lower back anymore, so I went to a chiropractor for help. I had never been to the chiropractor before, but I was told I should see one to get adjusted. My only experience with chiropractic work is the beautiful work of chiropractors on TikTok, who adjust people with loud cracks that often lead to sighs of relief from their patients. I wasn’t sure if that was real or not, but I was definitely curious to see what the experience was like, especially as a real patient. I needed a solution, but I was also curious if I was just going to get cracked and pay a bill, or if I would be forced to come back again and again. I had no idea at the time, but a week after my first visit (and becoming pain-free again), I can definitely say this: the way my chiropractor did his thing was a great example of what’s missing in business today. Hopefully this newsletter is all that it’s cracked up to be. 😉 (I had to, I’m sorry.) Anyway, let’s get unstuck. QUOTE OF THE WEEK "A satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all." – Michael LeBoeuf, Business author and former management professor THE STORY All I wanted was for the pain to go away. So when I went to the chiropractor for the first time and he took out a color-coded spine to educate me on some stuff, I knew I was going to have to wait a little longer. Seriously — all I wanted him to do was magically crack me back to pain-free living like I see all the time on TikTok. But to be kind, I didn’t interrupt his lesson. And I am so glad he did what he did. I learned how the spine works and that when certain parts of the spine aren’t aligned correctly, the flow of information through the nervous system can be interrupted or slowed down. Oftentimes, these misalignments can cause pain in different parts of the body, which is what I was experiencing. He was able to pinpoint exactly what was happening and shared with me how he was going to fix it over time. In fact, how he knew exactly what was going on was like magic. To take it one step further, he also shared a lot about how this was probably affecting my daily life: - Trouble sleeping ✅ - Restless when sitting ✅ - Wincing randomly throughout the day ✅ He even asked me about potential digestive issues I could be experiencing, and I lit up when he correctly called out some of those problems, too. He obviously knew what he was doing, and because of that, I fully trusted him to take care of me. I even remember telling myself at one point: “Whatever this guy offers, I’m going to say yes.” A great experience, and a great example of a business owner doing things right. Oh, and yes, he fixed me up, so I’m all better now. Although, I do have a series of appointments over the next few months for progress check-ups. CALL TO ACTION Online, we often struggle to sell our business or service because we are relatively disconnected from our audience. We might have a general understanding of who we are serving, but every person is a unique individual on a unique journey. Although they may want the same outcome as others, their specific circumstances may be different. As a result, the way we can best connect with them may be different, too. Using content to educate our audience is great, and it’s how we prove ourselves as experts. However, there’s something so powerful with the direct approach, like when my chiropractor asked, “Does this hurt? How about this?” By literally finding my pain points, he was able to prescribe a specific solution for my circumstances. Experiencing that firsthand was extremely powerful. How might you get to that point with the individuals in your audience, especially if you serve them as a coach or consultant? We tend to focus our efforts on ourselves, expecting others to look at us and what we can do. This is the furthest thing from really understanding what’s bothering someone else and how it affects their lives. Instead of marketing as “look at us and what we can do for you,” marketing should be communicated as “we see you and what you’re going through, and here’s how we can help you.” That adjustment in approach will have a dramatic long-term effect on everything in your business, especially your bottom line. Adjust for that, and you’ll have no problem growing, serving, and winning in business. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
