When Linda lost her home to a flood, the Red Cross was there to help. Having trouble viewing this message? [Click Here] [Watch Linda] Dear {NAME}, Linda arrived at a Red Cross shelter on New Year’s Day shivering, her shoes soaked from walking through cold water to safety. Her home had been destroyed by flooding on Missouri’s Meramec River. The shelter provided food, warmth and safety. It was a much-needed refuge for Linda, letting her look forward to good things to come, like the birth of her first great-grandchild. “If it wasn’t for the Red Cross, we wouldn’t have a place to go,” she said. “I think I would be sitting at the edge of the water and watching it, thinking, ‘please no, don’t take my home.’” [Watch Linda] [Watch Linda's story >>] Thanks to supporters like you, the Red Cross is able to make sure people like Linda are cared for after a disaster takes their home, and that they have the help they need to plan those difficult next steps. “These people made us feel so welcome,” Linda said of the volunteers and employees who took her in and made sure she was safe. “It was a blessing.” On behalf of Linda and all those we help, thank you for your compassionate support.
