[Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, MDs] Better Way to Diagnose Melanoma By Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, MDs In 2003, LPGA pro Annika Sorenstam took on the PGA's Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, and Mark O'Meara in a “skins tournament.” Playing for a cash prize at every hole (called a skin), she managed to win four and $175,000. Tour golfers — male or female, whether they're playing skins or not — are well aware that constant sun exposure puts them at increased risk for skin cancer. Special: [Can't Sleep? Do This 20 Minutes Before Bed]( Around 186,680 cases of melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) will be diagnosed in the United States in 2023. Of those, it's estimated 80,070 will be confined to the top layer of skin, and most are easily treated. Early detection is important. The results of one study that tracked more than 77,000 people for 12 years found that routine skin exams significantly increased the likelihood of spotting skin cancers. However, a recent Cochrane Library Special Collection: Diagnosing Skin Cancer makes it clear that a quick look from your general practitioner isn't sufficient. Cochrane researchers found “visual inspection using the naked eye alone is not good enough, and melanomas may be missed.” When performed by a specialist, dermoscopy — a technique using a magnifying lens and powerful lighting system to zoom in on a mole and the underlying skin — is significantly better at diagnosing melanoma. Less than one-third of melanomas develop from existing moles; most appear on the skin as new spots. Make an appointment with a dermatologist for a head-to-toe dermoscopy. And use SPF 30-plus on exposed skin year-round. --------------------------------------------------------------- Special Message --------------------------------------------------------------- ADVERTORIAL Tell me if this sounds familiar... It's 2am and you're still staring at the ceiling... You just can't seem to shut your brain off... Your mind races a million miles an hour... Maybe you can't stop thinking about money issues, health problems, or even something embarrassing you did or said... Then, perhaps you finally DO fall asleep... ...only to jerk awake at 4am, knowing the next day you're going to feel tired, worn-out, and like a brain-dead zombie. Does any of that ring a bell? Well, just months ago... that was me... I never slept more than 4 hours... I felt exhausted, groggy, and dog-tired all the next day, downing pots of coffee to get through work... And I turn into a cranky "you-know-what" when I don't catch my zzz's... so I was getting into all of these stupid little arguments with my wife. I had to do something... or I would spend the rest of my nights on the couch. And that's when I stumbled on a discovery from leading MIT sleep researchers... and it changed everything. You see, this discovery led to my research team and I developing a technique we call the "sleep signal reset." Just [do this 20 minutes before you hop into bed...]( And you'll gently activate your body's "go-to-sleep" hormones... So you fall asleep faster than a baby riding in a car... Sleep through the ENTIRE night... ...and wake up fully rested and chipper, ready to take on the day. Best of all, it literally takes less than a minute... It requires no dangerous drugs, meditation, valerian root, blackout shades, blue-blocking sunglasses, or any other weird stuff... Just [do this about 20 minutes before bedtime]( and you'll get the peaceful, restorative sleep you deserve. ==> [Can't Sleep? Do This 20 Minutes Before Bed...)]( Dr. K, Founder of Fisico Inc.
