Escalating his opposition of Trump administration policies, California Gov. Gavin Newsom this week pardoned two Cambodian refugees that immigration officials wanted to deport. Hay Hov's and Kang Henâs families fled Cambodia and the genocidal, communist Khmer Rouge regime. Hovâs family landed in Oakland, California. Kevin Lo, Hovâs attorney, [described it as another kind of war zone.](
Also, the Trump administration ordered the partial evacuation of the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, Wednesday in response to what the administration [has warned is an "increased threat" from Iran.](
And this 38-year-old, Germany-based baritone just made her debut as Don Giovanni with the Tulsa Opera, becoming the [first transgender person to sing a lead role in a standard operatic work in the US.](
