It's pretty amazing to think that something built 57 years ago to protect the City of Providence continues to get the job done. Credit goes to the Army Corps of Engineers, who built the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier from 1960 to 1966, but while the barrier has done its job to keep Providence safe it doesn't mean it can be counted on forever. The good news is others share concerns about the future of the barrier according to The Journal's Alex Kuffner.
