[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at [The Providence Journal]( and this is the Daily Briefing. Welcome back to the work week. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and now onto the news. If you're looking for a house right now, my sympathies. I know it sounds like a broken record, but Rhode Island's housing market is tough right now. Just like it was a year ago and a year before that. The reasons for the market being tight is still the same as before, low inventory, homeowners holding low interest rates and the current rates being much higher. There are also some new trends playing a factor. The Journal's Wheeler Cowperthwaite looks at the latest numbers and talks with a Realtor to find out more about the problems facing Rhode Island's housing market and why it affecting buyers of all economic levels. • The latest information about the illicit drug supply in Rhode Island isn't good. Not that it's a good place to start as it is. The recently published study looked at more than 1,000 counterfeit pills seized by police in Rhode Island and what they found should concern drug buyers and their loved ones. [The Journal's Katie Mulvaney has the details.]( • If you think textile manufacturing is dead in Rhode Island, a Woonsocket company has a message for you. [Luz Duran finishes barets ready for shipment at Woonsocket's Brickle Group-4.jpg] A display at Brickle Group in Woonsocket showing the role of the company's yarn in the making of Rawlings baseballs supplied to Major League Baseball. David DelPoio/Providence Journal [The Journal's Paul Parker writes that from the yarn used for baseballs used in the major leagues to military uniforms, the Brickle Group is alive and well.]( • Bridges are on the minds of many Rhode Islanders this day and we're not just talking about the Washington Bridge. The East Bay Bike Path bridges over the Barrington and Palmer rivers were declared unsafe in 2019 and DOT's efforts to replace them have hit a number of roadblocks. [The Journal's Patrick Anderson writes that an answer on their future could come today.]( • The high school spring sports playoff season is underway and there was plenty of action over the weekend.
