But if there's one place where a look behind the curtain is needed, it's Congress. That's why this week, I introduced a resolution to keep the cameras on during all legislative activity. Americans deserve a window into what is supposed to be the "people's house," and members of Congress should be judged and evaluated for all they do and say on camera. Last week, millions watched a sorry spectacle unfold as extreme MAGA Republicans forced Kevin McCarthy to make concession after concession until they finally gave him enough votes to be Speaker. It's a good thing this was out in the open so that voters know full well what this Republican party represents and plans to do. So I believe that all House business should continue to be publicly broadcast, whether it's "dramatic" or not. This is about basic transparency in our democracy, and I've never stopped working to uphold that value. But I know that a lot of Republicans and special interests won't like this idea, and they'll be trying to shut my efforts down and attack me and anyone who dares to challenge them. They'd love nothing more than for their charade to continue — if they were actual magicians, they'd wish away voters knowing anything about their destructive policies!
