[NBC News: Supreme Court backs landmark voting rights, strikes down Alabama congressional map]( In a 5-4 ruling, the court upheld a critical component of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) that has protected against racial gerrymandering. But look, we never should have had to sweat this. It's because the Supreme Court took a hammer to the VRA in 2013 that we've faced further challenges to the law from right-wing interests. Mark believes that it's wrong for basic democratic rights to continually hang by a thread pending a thread-bare decision from a court that's become increasingly politicized. He believes it's up to Congress to fix the damage that the Supreme Court has done to the VRA and permanently secure fair access to the ballot for all Americans. [So it's up to us to make Congress act — and Mark needs your help.
