[Plex]( [Plexcerpts] Welcome to Plexcerpts – a recurring newsletter of updates to Plex. Now you might ask, “Why did you name the newsletter Plexcerpts?” Like an "excerpt,” we'll highlight some smaller pieces of info from various feature or app releases we've recently made. Basically, it’s a chance to let you in on some of the cool things we’ve been cooking up that you might have otherwise missed. [Look at them Apples] Look at them Apples A few months back we introduced a new high-quality video player to our iOS and Apple TV apps for Plex Pass users as a preview; this enhanced player now supports playing and streaming live TV without any transcoding. Which equals less work for the server, which means playback starts a lot quicker when tuning to a channel on those Apple devices. Which means you get a few seconds of your life back to spend however you please. In addition, you also get broader playback support, sharper output, better performance, and improved subtitle support. We’re working hard to make the new player pixel perfect, as we prepare to make it the default experience for everyone who has a Plex Pass. To turn it on – or off – at any time, simply go to the Settings → Advanced. [Get the deets]( Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying [Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying] To some of us, there is nothing worse than an ever-so-slightly-off subtitle stream when watching a movie. Sometimes you’re watching “Lady and the Tramp” and Lady’s words are coming from the Tramp—it just ain’t right. (Who names their pets these names anyway?) Well, you’re in luck if you’re using our apps on PS4, Xbox One, Smart TVs (LG 4K and Samsung sets), Apple TV, or iOS*, in addition to our web app and Plex Media Player: we’ve got a new offset feature that will let you get the subtitles lined up nice and tight, and keep Lady’s words out of the Tramp’s mouth. [Offset!]( *Apple devices using the Enhanced Video Player use the iOS/tvOS system Subtitles & Captioning settings, allowing you to change size, font, background, and text color. With great power comes great responsibility [With great power comes great responsibility] Ever get home and your server’s fan sounds like a Harrier jet takeoff in a Category 4 hurricane? Are some of your viewers watching “Spider-Man” a few times too many? Well, we wanted to give you some further insight and figured out a way to give your admin console some delightful new powers that you can unlock with a Plex Pass (way easier than getting powers through a radioactive spider bite): - Check out RAM and CPU graphs—dynamic graphs that show how your server is being used... like a task manager for your server - See the history of what’s been playing from your server, whether it’s your movies or your friends who have watched them - Check out the history of any item in your library—see how many times and on which devices it has been played Simply open your dashboard in the web app to access these. The new features join the roster of Dashboard MVPs we’ve released in the last few months: Enhanced Now Playing See existing playback session cards with additional info about streams, media decision, playback and transcoder progress Bandwidth stats Look at stats like upstream bitrate and others by local/remote sessions [plex pass icon] User stats Look at your top users by playback count—now you’ll know if Johnny is watching late at night instead of doing homework [plex pass icon] Media-centric stats Check out the most-played movies or episodes in the last 30 days and roast your friends for their questionable taste [plex pass icon] Be sure you’re running Plex Media Server at least v1.15.3 for all this stat goodness! [Show me the dash]( Go Premium Plex Pass gives you the best of Plex with exclusive (and early!) access to awesome new and premium features. Plex Live TV & DVR Watch and record your favorite free HDTV digital broadcast channels on any device, anywhere. Mobile Sync Bring your media with you on your Android or iOS device and enjoy it offline anywhere. Parental Controls Enable parental controls, create customized, managed accounts, and restrict content. Movie Trailers & Extras Automatically see high quality movie trailers, interviews, and other extras for your movies. [Try 30 days free]( [People love Plex] We love our users and they love us, too. Have a look at what people say about Plex. [drkstr]( Drkstr @darkstars77 Just figured out how to integrate TiVo with my [@plex]( server. Game changer! Download from TiVo for NAS storage, stream to my phone & other devices. Plex rules!!! [mikey_mau5]( Mr.Manager @mikey_mau5 It took me way too long to discover how game changing [@plex]( is. I can’t ever turn back now. [Plex]( [Twitter]( [Facebook]( [Instagram]( [You Tube]( [LinkedIn]( You have received this email because you're a valued Plex customer.
