But right now, our history is under attack by Republican extremists like Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis who want to ban books from our classrooms and push their racism on every child in America. Since last year, at least 35 state legislatures had introduced bills to limit the discussion of racial history in their classrooms. At least 16 had passed them. Our country has a long history of banning Black studies. We need to learn from our past. Don’t ban Black history - teach it.
