([New Republic]( The Resource Center Matamoros, a small, migrant-aid group, became the center of a political firestorm when a flier bearing its logo and urging migrants to vote for Joe Biden appeared on social media recently. The Heritage Foundation had uploaded the flier, which the centerâs founder, Gaby Zavala, said is a crude fake, the same day two right-wing provocateurs knocked on the groupâs door pretending to be would-be volunteers. The men have denied planting the flier and said they received a tip-off about it. Zavala said she has since received death threats.
