It may be kitten season, but adult cats still need homes. Here are some of our favorite recent cat-adoption stories These adoptions are the cat's pajamas! [View this email in your browser]( Dear Friend, You may know that summer is Kitten Season at animal shelters – but there are still thousands of adolescent and adult cats waiting to be adopted. Luckily, your donations are helping cats find forever homes every day. That includes Hitchcock, pictured above and below. Hitchcock (right) with BFF Tuesday Hitchcock was 6 weeks old when he arrived at Ladybird Animal Sanctuary in Ontario. He was found in a barn, dragging his back leg and with an extremely bruised underside. He received immediate medical attention and made a full recovery in a loving foster home. Once he was ready, and with the support of our Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant, he was neutered and vaccinated. In his foster home, Hitch bonded with Tuesday, who'd also come to Ladybird with serious injuries. The pair were adopted together and will spend the rest of their days in a safe, loving forever home. Stevie with his adopters Stevie Wonderful, a blind 2-year-old cat, was abandoned in a Texas motel room and brought to a crowded city shelter. Second Chance Pets took him in; their vet determined that Stevie's eyes were congenitally malformed, non-visual, and causing him chronic pain. Our Emergency Medical Grant helped fund surgery to remove them. He was soon adopted, and his new mom reports, "Every night, he’s slept right in my arms. He’s the most affectionate cat I’ve ever met and my fiancé and I love him to pieces!" Jerry Garcia Over the winter, a blizzard destroyed the HVAC system at Utah's Nuzzles & Co., forcing it to rely on space heaters. This wouldn't do for medical-needs pets like Jerry Garcia, who was being treated for arthritis and eye issues. Our Disaster Grant helped Nuzzles & Co. install new, reliable heating, which kept Jerry and the other shelter pets warm while they waited for forever families. And Jerry didn’t have to wait long: He was adopted as soon as his medical hold was up! Sheeba (left) and Tigger EASEL Animal Rescue in New Jersey used our Kia Pet Adoption Grant to reduce adoption fees on "mature" pets (ages 5-10) and to encourage people to adopt bonded pairs. That made a big difference for Sheeba and Tigger. The plus-sized golden girls came from different homes and ended up at different high-volume shelters, but they were both taken in by EASEL, where they became fast friends. After both cats were passed over several times, a family fell in love with Tigger. Luckily, they recognized that she and Sheeba belonged together and adopted them both! Petfinder Foundation grants get cats like these out of shelters and into loving homes every day.
