Sign up now at the front desk! OTF Member Alaina's story begins when the love of her life got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. When her mission centered around getting in the best shape of her life before her big day, Orangetheory soon became her lifelong accountability partner in her success. However, five months after her engagement, cancer struck. Finding out she required surgery to completely remove her thyroid was a huge pill to swallow at 26 years old. However, that didn't slow her down one bit. Only 7 days after her surgery, Alaina was cancer-free and back to running and rowing at her true All-Out pace in the studio! [Read Alaina's Success Story]( Member Spotlight Beth and Mike, W. The Whiteside's are founding members at OTF and I think hands down we can say that they have referred more members than anyone else! They are the true definition of bleeding orange. You can also credit their woodworking and painting every time you sit on the bench inside the front door. They make it a point to know all the staff and are known for bringing us treats in for the employees! Beth and Mike combined have attended more than 750 classes at OTF since joining. 1.) Why do you love OTF? Beth - You know I could go on for hours about this, right?! OTF is the multi-vitamin of my physical fitness!! It’s completely changed me metabolically and mentally. It taught me how to enjoy pushing myself out of my comfort zone both physically and mentally to become better every time. Once that becomes a habit there is very little that can stand in your way! The most amazing part is the great OTF community that has been by my side this whole time, not just in class making it a ton of fun, but inspiring me to work harder and supporting me both in and out of class. Love you my OTF fit fam! Mike -  It’s a healthy addiction! The more I do it, the better I feel. The workouts are tough, varied and fun. The coaches are motivating and inspiring.  There are so many reasons I love OTF. The most important that I feel part of a family of people that support each other to be and feel healthy and happy.  2.) What is your most memorable moment at OTF? There was actually an exact moment for me that’s as clear as day in my memory. It was the first day I decided to try to run 10 for an all-out. And as luck would have it the all out was a 1-minute AO. I decided to go for it, now or never. And like any good coach who knows what their clients are working towards, Coach Mike Dunn noticed me hitting that milestone and he said over the microphone “Beth Whiteside, running 10, and for one minute no less!!!”. I was so happy that day. That was a long time ago now, but it was the day I realized I could accomplish anything I set my mind to at OTF.  It might not sound like much but I had worked up from power walking to jogging to running. That 10 was symbolic of all the hard work that I and my coaches had put in up to that point. Mike - That’s a tough one… being that embarrassment makes strong memories… I’d have to say the time I fell off the rower. Had to be a month or so into starting OTF. It was, I think, Mike Mulligan’s first class. I was showing him the ropes. He was next to me on the rower. We were doing maybe a 250 meter all-out row and about 100 meters in, I pushed off so hard that my butt came up off the seat. The seat flew out back and I was riding the rails. Ouch! I quickly got back on the seat ( I don’t remember how). Fortunately, Mully was far over 100% in the red zone and did not even notice what had happened. I also remember it well because I had some impressive bruises on my butt for a few weeks afterwards. 3.) Who is your favorite Coach, workout music, and type of class? Beth - Picking a favorite coach is like asking a mother who their favorite child is! I can’t do it! Love them all! And that’s the truth. For music - rock, hip hop, something with a little edge to it. Nothing that sounds overly happy! Class type - I love a mix of power and strength. I love any class that has 30 second all outs because I think it’s so fun to run fast! Or heavy weights with 6-8 reps on the floor. Mike - Coach- Oh my heart. Don’t make me choose! It’s like asking me which of my children I love the most. (they didn't know each others answers when they responded!) Music- 90’s Rock Class- Strength days for the floor, Power days for the treads, and any class with a Run/Row. 4.) What is your favorite cheat meal? Beth - Lately it has been a juicy cheeseburger with cheddar and avocado on it, and an Oreo milkshake!! Yum! Mike - Starts with a big Gin and Tonic with fresh squeezed lime juice and ends with Stewart’s Death by Chocolate ice cream. If there’s a NY strip steak or a Greek Gyro loaded with yogurt sauce in between, that’s just a small detail. Staff Spotlight Nicole, W. Nicole started working at OTF Niskayuna in January 2016 and moved to OTF Albany in May of 2017 when she was not at school at University of Lousiville where she just graduated with your degree in Political Science. Nicole will now be working at OTF Albany full time starting in September. 1) Why do you love working for OTF? I love everything about working for OTF! The atmosphere is some of the best and I love how comfortable we can be while at work whether with coworkers or with members. 2) What is your favorite type of day and workout music? My favorite type of workouts are strength days. And anything hip hop is my go to for working out. 3) What is your most memorable moment at OTF? My most memorable moment at OTF so far has to be seeing the growth in the Capital Region OTF culture. It was so fun coming back from school and seeing all new people in our studios. 4) What is your favorite cheat meal? My favorite cheat meal has to be either chicken tenders and fries or macaroni and cheese. 5) What is something that no one knows about you? Something a lot of people don’t know about me is I’ve traveled to 6 other countries and 14 different states. [Meal Prep Breakfast Taco Scramble]( We all know the most effective way to guarantee that you eat healthy, portion-controlled meals is to meal prep. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
