Sign Petition to Stop This Wolves in Oregon are being killed to “protect” cattle on ranches, and it is entirely legal thanks to the government allowing and conducting the unnecessary cruel practice. Additionally, the petition states that the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) has new provisions that would allow the trophy hunting of wolves! Thousands of Greyhounds Are Being Tortured and Killed in Spain – Help Stop This! Greyhounds are typically associated with dog racing, but they are also being exploited, brutally tortured, and killed in hunting practices in Spain. According to a petition on Care2 written by SPCA International, 60,000 Spanish Greyhounds, or Galgos, are tortured and killed in Spain annually. The dogs are used to hunt hares, but after they are deemed useless in the hunts, they are mercilessly discarded and abused in shocking ways.​ The SPCA has been working to end these barbaric practices since 2012, but there is still a long way to go, and they need your help. If you would like to see an end to the torture and murder of Spanish Greyhounds, please take a moment to sign the petition addressed to the Spanish Government and voice your opinion. American Airlines Denied Man and Dog Fleeing Irma Due to Unfair Regulations – Let’s Change This After booking an American Airlines flight, Varga began to scour pet stores for a pet carrier suitable for Meeka to travel in, which is in accordance with the federal regulations. Unfortunately, after searching for one in 10 stores, it proved to be completely fruitless. With not much time on his hands, Varga decided to take his chances and go to the airport together with Meeka anyway. But as he soon discovered, American Airlines was not willing to make an exception to the pet carrier regulations, in spite of the approaching hurricane. In the end, Varga and Meeka both returned home – hoping for the best. When animals’ very lives are at the stake, airlines, hotels, and similar businesses have often made exceptions to this kind of strict policies in the times of emergencies, like natural disasters. Demand Stores Only Work With Rescue Shelters About sixty cities across the country, including San Francisco and Phoenix, have instated laws that prohibit pet shops from selling animals from puppy mills, instead requiring them to partner with animal shelters and rescues to adopt out animals. A petition on Care2 addressed to the New York State Legislature and Governor Cuomo is asking for New York to follow in these cities’ footsteps and instate a similar law banning the sale of animals in pet shops. Given the recent investigation into one NYC pet store that found horrific instances of neglect and abuse, this action should be taken very seriously and swiftly.
