Trophy Hunter Kills Xanda, Son of Cecil the Lion â Hereâs What You Can Do!
For those that donât remember, Cecil was an African lion killed two years ago in a particularly disturbing way â though, all trophy hunting is, by default, sick The world took notice of this horrific crime ⦠but Xandaâs murder proves that little has changed in the world of trophy hunting. The Times reports, âThe lion, called Xanda, was shot outside the Hwange national park in Zimbabwe by a trophy hunter who was on safari with a licensed professional guide. It is illegal to hunt inside the park but the animals are free to roam into the adjoining reserves. Xandaâs fate was uncovered only through a radio collar that heâd been outfitted with.
NARS Resumed Animal Testing So They Can Sell In China â Tell Them What You Think About This!
The popular cosmetics brand NARS, which was once applauded for being cruelty-free, is now conducting animal tests in order to sell their products in China. As the petition explains, China requires cosmetics sold in the country to be tested on animals, and rather than standing up for the core belief of the brand and refusing to follow such a cruel law, NARS has caved in for the sake of profit. As the petition says, consumers who once trusted NARS to be cruelty-free now feel duped into supporting a brand that does not live up to what they market themselves as.â
Demand Justice for Strushie the Cat Who Was Shot and Killed With a Bow and Arrow!
Strushie the orange tabby was the resident cat at the Franklin Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida. He was a favorite of everyone, everyone that is except for one staff member of the hotel, Georgios Kollias, who viciously hunted down Strushie and shot him twice in the head with a bow and arrow on April 26, 2017. He then hid the catâs body and tried to tamper with video surveillance that caught him committing this gruesome crime. The culprit has been charged with animal cruelty and tampering with evidence. Kollias plead not guilty, but the video surveillance footage proves otherwise.
The petition is demanding that Kollias be charged to the full extent of the law. Please take a moment to sign the petition in support of justice for Strushie.
54 Humpback Whales Were Killed in Fishing Nets Last Year â Take Action to Protect Them!
54 humpback whales were entangled in fishing nets last year, and a third of these were crab fishing lines off the coast of California. Once entangled, the whales can suffer from dehydration, starvation, infections, and respiratory issues. Once almost pushed to extinction by whale hunters, humpbacks began to make a comeback since the latter half of the 20th-Century thanks to protection laws. However, their lives are still being threatened by humans.
As a truly fascinating species, humpbacks have been monitored and studied in-depth by marine biologists, notably in Californiaâs Monterey Bay and Channel Islands. As the petition explains, because the feeding and breeding areas and migratory routes of whales are well-known amongst biologists and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), there ought to be regulations on fishing during whale âhigh season.â
Innocent Seals Are Being Clubbed for Meat and Fur â Act Now to Stop This!
The commercial seal hunt in Canada takes thousands of victims every year â usually, they are the youngest and most vulnerable animals, clubbed to death for their meat and pelts. In 2014, the Canadian governmentâs hunt quota was a shocking 400,000 seals. And, despite international opposition, the end of this bloodshed is nowhere in sight.
Commercial seal hunt is shrouded in misinformation â much of it perpetrated by the Canadian government itself, as International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) points out in its Care2 petition aimed at stopping the hunts. The commercial seal hunt on the East Coast also has to be distinguished from the Inuit hunt, the petition emphasizes. The cruel and completely unnecessary commercial sealing industry simply cannot be supported any longer â while Inuit struggle when it comes to food security.
Click here to sign IFAWâs petition to Canadaâs MPs to cease spreading misinformation about the case and stop the East Coast seal hunt!
