Save Elephants and Lions - Stop Trump’s Trophy Hunting Plan Elephants are essential to our planet’s biodiversity, and the world cannot afford to wait; we must act NOW. A petition on Care2 has been written to speak out against Trump’s brash decision to permit the murder of endangered species. PLEASE take a moment to sign this petition and share it with others to further garner support for our world’s elephants, lions, and other imperiled wildlife. A viral video filmed by a former employee at Happy Puppy Pet Spa captures the business owner, Phyllis Lucca, violently manhandling a small dog, picking it up by its neck, choking it, shaking it, slamming it on the counter, and angrily swearing at it. This happened after another small dog left the groomer with a broken jaw and badly bruised body. When confronted with the damning evidence, Lucca shamelessly lied, saying the dog had “fainted” and she was trying to wake it up. However, the video clearly shows the dog she choked was fully awake and conscious during the assault. You can watch the video here, but we warn you, it may be difficult for some to watch. A petition has been made to make sure a thorough investigation is conducted on Lucca and that justice is served. It is highly unlikely these are the only two incidents of animal abuse that have occurred at this corrupt business that has been open for many years. It seems, however, that officials of the Mpumalanga province in South Africa aren’t taking it seriously. In fact, officials in the tourism office have killed four lions just this year for straying outside Kruger National Park. The Care2 team is calling out the senseless killings because, with only 1,600 lions that call Kruger home, there are other effective ways of lion control. A petition on Care2 explains that life for elephants used in circuses is so dangerous that they only live about half as long as their wild brethren. Forced to incessantly perform unnatural tricks in front of rowdy crowds only to return to sub-standard shelter and care, these innocent animals are forced to obey orders to avoid being brutally beaten. The petition is calling on U.S. Congress to put a nationwide ban on the use of elephants in circuses, which will hopefully lead to a ban on all animals used in circuses. Please take a moment to support this proposal by signing the petition. [Read more here.]( Rabbits and Sheep Are Subjected to Horrific Procedures in This Medical Training Center – Let’s Stop This Now! Although proven to be ineffective and now obsolete in most medical residency programs in the U.S. and in Canada, medical training involving live animals is still being carried out at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There, rabbits and sheep are dying at the hands of emergency medicine residents – despite the inadequacy and cruelty of the procedures. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has launched a petition to raise awareness for the issue and putting an end to the practices still in use at HCMC.
