There’s a secret to getting people to change their minds that many NLPers don’t There’s a lot of talk in NLP about language. But mastery of language isn’t enough to be able to guide people to transformations.  Don’t get me wrong, words have tremendous power…  Move forward Step back Go right past…  Are just a few helpful patterns that do very specific things in people’s minds.  But here’s why mastery with the language you use is so important:  Words give us the tools to slide in process instructions and process instructions, when used effectively, allow us to alter people’s consciousness, their state and (covertly or overlay) influence their behaviour in radical ways.  Every master of NLP knows this.  Words and how we use them play a key role in how we lead, influence, and create changes in others.  However, when clients ask me:  “Tom, what language patterns should I learn first?”  I never advise them to start with language patterns.  Because language patterns are NOT the most important thing to learn first.  What is?  Stay tuned for an email tomorrow where I reveal what every NLPer should learn to master first, which makes using language to create the outcomes you want with others, so much easier!  Talk soon, Tom  PS: Can’t wait and want a hint now? Have a look at the visual puzzle below. This image does the same thing we are doing when we are using language very intentionally in the way I’m going to describe in upcoming emails.  This puzzle is called Upstairs Downstairs.  See if you can figure it out.  (Note you’ll need to enable images in your email client if you don’t see the image below.)  [upstairs-downstairs-puzzle]  Find the top step. When (and if) you find it, start looking for the bottom step.  PPS: I’ll reveal the correct answer tomorrow. Make sure to tune in then. ;-) NLP Times, Real NLP Skills For The Real World  --------------------------------------------------------------- Note: If you no longer wish to receive these emails about "How to Lead, Influence & Change Minds Easily", [just click here]( and you’ll be REMOVED from this email campaign. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
