[Newgrounds.com]( Greetings, {NAME}! [One Year Anniversary of NG Video]( Posted by [TomFulp]() Quick recap of news from this past week: 1) We introduced a new [video encoding server!]( The visual and audio quality of NG video is now quite possibly the best among major video platforms. Please let me know if you are experiencing any issues with recent videos, such as the ones on the front page. Also feel free to note if everything runs great and looks great! 2) Winners of our [Pit People Art Contest]( have been announced. Congrats! 3) Yesterday's post was an [April Fools Prank]( and we aren't actually developing The Room for the Switch, although it sounds like a lot of people would buy it. March 31st was the one year anniversay of this legendary [kaptainkristian video about NG.]( After seeing that video I made a [news post]( encouraging people to become [supporters.]( We had a huge uptick in support over the next few days and now a lot of those one year purchases are either renewing or expiring. The renewals are giving us a great start towards our April goal! Remember though, our monthly goal isn't what NG actually needs to cover all our expenses; it's just what we hope to achieve as part of ongoing progress. Everything I said in that post last year remains true; ad rates continue to decline as expected and Newgrounds still loses money. The good news is we have more supporters than this time last year and are running fewer ads than ever. The Supporter system is the future for NG and it's gonna be totally liberating when NG is fully-funded by it. Note: The bad news remains true for YouTube as well, as their need to please advertisers continues to displease artists. Great progress has been made since this time last year; we overhauled [Dumping Grounds]( built a new and larger storage system, integrated an Elasticsearch cluster for an entirely new NG search experience, changed our audio players to HTML5, made all our content pages mobile-friendly, migrated NG to HTTPS, hosted a number of events as well as a movie theater screening and most recently introduced the new video encoding server. We've commissioned a variety of site skins from NG artists and have sponsored a series of animations that include the latest [Captain Tardigrade]( and the upcoming Starbarians. Your [support]( made all this possible so THANK YOU for keeping the dream alive. We have BIG changes coming this month as well, stay tuned for the next update! Other Announcements 1) [Whirlguy is looking for Voice Actors, Musicians and Sound Designers]( to be part of an audio drama to celebrate the Audio Portal's 15th Anniversary! 2) Six days remain to make something for our [Construct 3 Game Jam!]( The theme is "You are not the main character." If you feel like you've waited too long, think of it like a game jam with six days instead of 48 hours. You can do this! 3) [Pico Day]( is May 5th and you can celebrate by making any sort of content about your favorite things on NG. There are cash prizes! 4) If you're a history buff, I've been updating the [NG History page.]( 5) We're gonna do a big series of Animation Jams this summer, prepare yourself! 6) SirLenward is hosting a [Super Mario RPG Rawest Forest Reanimate Collab!]( Animators, check this out! 7) I'm still finishing it up but I've been making a [March Playlist]( of music I enjoyed throughout the month. 8) The [Yeah Jam Fury State Builder contest winners]( have been announced! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
