With the next set of hearings set to take place in September, we wanted to #ThrowBackThursday to some important (and disgusting) highlights from the hearings: June 9 The first hearing looked at the absolute devastation on the United States Capitol when the insurrectionists breached it on January 6. A 10-minute video of previously unseen footage showed a heartbreaking interview in which a Capitol police officer recalled the violence she saw and had to fight that day. June 13 In the next hearing, the Committee focused on the #BigLie and revealed evidence that Trump and his advisors knew from the VERY BEGINNING that election fraud had not taken place. June 16 The focus of the third hearing was the extreme amount of pressure Donald Trump placed on Mike Pence to overturn the election. These intimidation tactics included verbal abuse, riling up the mob, and even a kidnapping scheme. June 21 The hearing on June 21 on the other hand, focused on the pressure the Trump administration placed on other elected officials to overturn the election. Arizona officials and election workers provided testimony that they endured harassment and threats to their lives. June 23 Another group that faced enormous pressure to support the #BigLie was our country's very own Department of Justice. Three former officials spoke about the threats from Trump to declare the election as “tainted” and appoint his own puppet to conduct a sham investigation. June 28 In a bombshell testimony, former White House aide, Cassidy Hutchinson testified about the horrifying things she witnessed during and leading up to the insurrection. From revealing Trump's physical assault on a Secret Service agent to his ketchup-laced tantrums in the Oval Office – and even his support of the insurrectionists carrying weapons, she laid it all out on the table for the country to see. July 12 On the first hearing of July, the Committee presented how Trump was responsible for the insurrection, and we heard testimony from former Oathkeepers and Proudboys who led the "revolution." July 21 In the latest hearing, Donald Trump's inaction and attempts to further rile up the crowd were exposed. Trump Administration White House Council Pat Cipollone recounted how Donald Trump ignored pleas from his administration and even his daughter to condemn the attack. It was unveiled that after seeing the violence, Trump decided to further attack Mike Pence and did not ask his supporters to "stand down" until later, once the violence had died down. So, where are we now? The Committee has been clear there is still a lot left to unravel and that more hearings are sure to come in September. We know right-wing media and personalities will do everything in their power to discredit the hearings and try to convince Americans that January 6 was a “peaceful protest.” It's up to us to protect the truth and make sure Donald Trump and the Treason Caucus are held accountable for their crimes against our country. The Committee has done an excellent job exposing their lies, but we need to unseat them in November to make sure they can never attack our democracy again. [Will you help us?
