In the worst way possible. Today we found out that the January 6 Committee had called a surprise session in light of new and shocking evidence. We couldn't believe our ears and eyes as we saw Mark Meadows' former special assistant, Cassidy Hutchinson, testify about some – and we're not using this word lightly – BATSHIT events that she beheld in the days leading to and on January 6. Here is a quick rundown of a few things that we found out from today's hearings: - Donald Trump was fully aware that a lot of his supporters were armed with lethal weapons at the rally on January 6 and DEMANDED that they be allowed to keep their weapons as they marched on the Capitol. He is quoted as saying, "I don't f**king care that they have weapons. They're not here to hurt me." - Naturally, the members of the Trump administration, including Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows, in the West Wing were fully aware that things were going to get violent on January 6, as per Hutchinson's testimony. - When Trump heard that former Attorney General Barr had spoken to reporters and confirmed that there wasn't any widespread voter fraud, he angrily launched plates and ketchup at the walls of the Oval Office. - Finally, when the secret service would not take Donald Trump to the Capitol as the violence of January 6 was ongoing, Donald Trump responded in a fit of fury. He first tried to grab the steering wheel away from the driver's hands, and when he failed to do that, HE LUNGED AT A SECRET SERVICE AGENT AND GRABBED HIS THROAT. We've known for a long time that Donald Trump is an unhinged and violent man who set back our country decades and almost destroyed our democracy. But even now, his friends and cronies in the Treason Caucus are defending him in the face of clear and damning evidence. We need these traitors OUT of our government. [And we're going to unseat them, but to do that, we need to reach our $20,000 goal before the end-of-quarter deadline on Thursday. Through advertising, grassroots & digital organizing in targeted members’ districts, at a time in the cycle when other political organizations have historically not spent resources, will ensure our resources will in fact go further, our message will be heard more clearly, and our targets will feel the pressure immediately. [Never Again]( For generations people have risked everything seeking refuge on American shores to escape the very same sorts of political violence that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th –– and every generation has an opportunity to make investments to protect this democracy –– it is time to do our part.
