Fanone was tasered, beaten with a flagpole, dragged down steps, and had his badge stolen off his chest. The attack resulted in Fanone suffering a heart attack and concussion, and it's left him with PTSD and a traumatic brain injury. This is the horrifying reality of the violence that officers faced from Trump supporters on January 6. But instead of rallying behind the officers who served and denouncing the attacks, the Treason Caucus has tried to minimize and move on from the dangerous events that they incited. They claim to support the police, but on January 6, they put politics before everyoneâs safety, and before democracy. Fanone said what's been most difficult for him after the attack is seeing lawmakers downplay or lie about the attack for their own gain. He wants the lies to stop, saying "I experienced firsthand an insurrection inspired by the head of our executive branch, Donald Trump, and his co-workers." The Treason Caucus has made it clear they'll do whatever it takes to rewrite history and escape accountability. Their disrespect to the officers is disgusting and unacceptable.
