[I wrote the Facebook My Screen report - this is the story behind it](
Last week, amid claims of incorrect data, breached terms of service, and everything in between, Facebook and PwC pulled their My Screen report â which had been commissioned to provide a âbalanced and independent view of the video marketâ. [ACCC recommends mass reforms as a result of digital platform inquiry with Google and Facebook in the crosshairs](
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has made 23 recommendations for the federal government in an attempt to desperately curb the dominance of Facebook and Google in Australia. The final report from the consumer watchdogâs Digital Platforms Inquiry paints a bleak picture about the future of journalism and publishing if the recommendations are not followed.
The wide-reaching 600+ page report covers everything from competition law, consumer protection, media regulation and privacy law, to a reflection on the intersection of issues arising from the growth of digital platforms.

[Inquiry into 'opaque' media agency pricing recommended in ACCC Digital Platforms Report](
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has taken issue with the âopacityâ of media agency pricing in its Digital Platforms Report, recommending an inquiry into the âblack boxâ process of buying and selling ad space.
The regulatory body zoomed in on holding groups and large agencies that negotiate discounts with publishers and may be incentivised âto act in ways that benefit their own interests, to the detriment of advertisersâ. The inquiry would directly look into the share of ad spend media agencies retain, including âany potential excessive marginsâ.

Perth-based agency Marketforce has won the master media advertising contract for the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) following a competitive tender process and will continue to be the master media agency responsible for WA local government advertising.
The group advertising services contract is available to all WALGA members and associate members across all media platforms including TV, radio, out of home, print/newspapers, online, social and cinema.

[Australiaâs Got Talent launches to 814,000, but is unable to topple Australian Ninja Warrior](
Australiaâs Got Talent returned to Seven on Sunday night with a new lineup of hosts including My Kitchen Rulesâ Manu Feildel, actor and Full Monty host Shane Jacobson, US singer Nicole Scherzinger, and performer Lucy Durack. The show drew 814,000 metro viewers for its premiere, meaning it was the second most-watched entertainment show of the evening.
The top spot, both in the entertainment category and overall, went to Australian Ninja Warrior on Nine. It brought in 1.15m metro viewers, higher than its premiere of 1.01m at the beginning of July and the biggest episode for the show so far this season.

[Finance marketers told 'get your head out of your arse' as extent of perception gap with consumers is revealed](
In the wake of the Royal Commission, 6.54m Australians are open to switching banks, according to a study conducted by Yell Creative in partnership with Ipsos.
But thatâs at odds with the industryâs perception of itself, with 70% of financial services marketers trusting the industry they work in, compared to just over 20% of customers, and more than half of marketers believing customer trust has increased since the Royal Commission, when in fact the opposite is true.

[AFL helps Seven to an easy win on Friday night](
Friday nightâs AFL match between the Collingwood Magpies and the Richmond Tigers which saw the Tigers take the win 98 to 66, helped Seven to an easy Friday night win.
The primary channel held 24.7% of the audience share with 570,000 metro viewers tuning in to watch the match which aired on Seven in Melbourne and Adelaide, and 7mate in all other markets. Combined with regional viewers, the overall viewership was 786,000.
