[What went wrong with Yahoo7's bewildering media release?](
Following Yahoo7âs jargon-heavy restructure announcement on Tuesday, Fee Townshend, director of Curve Comms, takes a look at the nitty gritty of what went wrong.

[How to maximise your awards chances](
An essential factor in winning awards is understanding what the jury is looking for. With the Mumbrella Awards call for entry now live, Mumbrellaâs head of marketing Danika Porter â who has both written award-winning entries and been a juror â offers her advice on where to begin.
Iâve been on both sides of the fence. Firstly, as the one labouring for days writing an entry, eagerly awaiting the shortlist announcement and jubilantly celebrating when being announced as the winner on stage. Secondly, in my role as head of marketing at Mumbrella, Iâve been both responsible for marketing our awards to the industry and privileged to sit on the juries. Itâs allowed me to note the same juror observations time and time again, and witness the common elements that winning entries possess.

[Why BuzzFeed Australia isn't screwed](
BuzzFeed has been making global headlines for major job cuts in its US and UK offices. Mumbrellaâs Zoe Samios sat down with BuzzFeed Australiaâs general manager and editor in chief, Simon Crerar and David Nemes, vice president of brand strategy to discuss how the Aus office is bucking the trend.
In the last few months, more than 40 staff in BuzzFeedâs UK offices and 100 in the US have lost their jobs. The cuts were part of an attempt by the publisher to change its business model and boost revenue, after The Wall Street Journal reported it would fall short of its revenue projection â of around $350 million â by about 15% to 20%. By all accounts, the publisherâs global situation doesnât look great.

[Switched On Media drops the word 'media' to lose 'traditional connotations'](
WPPâs digital agency Switched On Media has rebranded to Switched On, dropping the word âmediaâ to lose any traditional connotations with the word.
Chris Hitchcock, managing director of Switched On, told Mumbrella: âDropping the âmediaâ from our name to become Switched On was almost a no-brainer, the name âSwitched On Mediaâ and the acronym SOM is part of who we have been but it really has connotations of traditional media, above the line, but also pigeon holes us down a particular route and our business for a long time now has been much more diverse than that.â

NewsMediaWorks CEO Peter Miller argues that the fine display of journalism depicted in the The Post might be in danger if the Turnbull Governmentâs proposed espionage laws go ahead.
Last weekend I took myself off to The Orpheum at Cremorne, surely the best cinema in Sydney, to watch The Post. I enjoy a political thriller more than most and still enjoy re-runs of All the Presidentâs Men, released in 1976. The Post, set in the early 1970s, is another political thriller of rare quality and, I reckon, importance.
