I want to take a few moments to explain to you how we fundraise at Mozilla, why our commitment to privacy makes Mozilla different, and what that means for our work to reclaim the internet. As a non-profit organisation, Mozilla relies in part on small donations to fund our work to reclaim the internet. The average contribution to Mozilla this year is $34.85 USD. Our mission is to put people back in control of the internet: we want you to be able to decide what information you share online, and with whom. We want the internet to be an open, inclusive, and safe resource for everyone. Our commitment to privacy means we do things very differently from most non-profit organisations. So here are our commitments to you: - We take consent very seriously. You're only receiving this email because you entered your email address, ticked a box that you wanted to hear from us, and then clicked a link in your email to confirm it's OK to send you emails. Less than half of the people who start that process with Mozilla finish it, and we will only email those who do. - Your data is used only by Mozilla. We don't sell or share your information with anyone, nor do we buy donor lists from other organisations. We don't use advertising pixels, so you'll never see ads from us that follow you all across the internet. And we certainly don't tell big tech companies anything about our supporters. Our relationship is between us. - We only use what data you give us. If you sign a petition or make a donation, we will ask for as little information as possible – often just your name, email, language, and geographic information. We use that data to send you more relevant emails, for accounting purposes, and to comply with legal obligations – that's it. - Truth, trust, and transparency. We will always tell you the truth when we ask for money, and we're always transparent about our work. So if we have a fundraising goal, or a deadline we need to reach, it's always very real. We won't create false urgency, and we'll never trick you into donating. If our movement to reclaim the internet is to succeed, it's essential that you trust Mozilla. Here's the truth: protecting your privacy is the right thing to do, but it also makes it harder to build our movement and fundraise for our work at the scale and pace we need to be successful. We live and breathe our mission to reclaim the internet. You and your trust in our work are our most valuable resource. We could raise a lot more money if we didn't respect peoples' privacy, but that wouldn't make us Mozilla. Now I'm going to ask you to make a donation like I promised at the start of this message. So here it goes: Your support really matters, and every donation is more than just money – it’s a seal of approval and a sign of trust in our work. Are you in? [Will you donate $25 to Mozilla today? Your contribution will go directly to our work to reclaim the internet, and we promise to always respect your privacy.]( [Donate Now →]( Thank you for everything you do for the internet, and for your support and trust in Mozilla.
