[Donate]( [Common Voice Robot]( Hello, It's frustrating when you're not understood â especially when you're trying to speak to Siri, Alexa, or another internet-connected device. Voice datasets that power voice recognition services are owned by a handful of major companies, and they can wildly underrepresent the voices of non-dominant accents, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, disabled people and gender marginalised people. In fact, for people speaking other global languages - there may be no datasets at all. That’s why Mozilla launched Common Voice â the world's largest public voice database, powered by the voices of volunteer contributors. Our goal is to teach machines how real people speak. Today, we’re asking you to contribute to Common Voice, but we want you to choose how you’ll do it. Will you [donate your voice]( to one of our Common Voice language datasets? Or will you [make a $25 donation]( to Mozilla to support projects like this to reclaim the internet? (Or both!) [Donate your Voice]( Spend a few minutes donating your voice to improve the Common Voice dataset. Some languages that need help are French, Hindi, Indonesian, and varied English accents. [Donate your voice →]( [Donate to Mozilla]( Build the movement to reclaim the internet from irresponsible tech companies by making a donation of $25 to Mozilla to support projects like Common Voice. [Donate to Mozilla →]( Over the next decade, experts predict that voice will become the primary way people interact with devices â from laptops and phones to digital assistants and retail kiosks. Thereâs a real risk that many of these devices will become inaccessible to communities of people all over the world, because the technology has not learnt to understand large swaths of the worldâs languages, accents and speech patterns. Common Voice is our collective response to this looming crisis in internet inaccessibility. And already, this work has powered deepfake detection software to keep you safe online, as well as health, humanitarian and education tools. Common Voice focuses on linguistic differences that other corporate voice databases disregard, allowing volunteers to safely and securely upload voice data in their own accents, with pronunciation differences, and in different variants and dialects. Our dataset is growing all the time thanks to people like you â but if we want voice recognition technology to be accessible to all of us, then we still have a long way to go. Which way can you contribute to Common Voice today? [Can you donate your voice to make technology more accessible?]( Adding your voice to our dataset will help more people use voice recognition systems. [Donate your voice →]( [Can you donate $25 to Mozilla?]( Our movement fights to reclaim the internet from big tech, and projects like Common Voice make voice recognition systems more accessible and trustworthy. [Donate to Mozilla →]( Thank you for everything you do to make the internet open and accessible to all â whichever paths you choose to support Common Voice today, we appreciate your support.
