[Tom Malinowski for Congress]( “Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.” I launched my reelection campaign this week with that quote from Shakespeare, and not just because we like to have fun on Team Tom. I wanted to convey that in New Jersey’s 7th district, we really are standing in the breach, for our country’s sake. For as long as I can remember, Democrats and Republicans have been having debates about taxes, spending, and what role our government should play in our lives. Those issues — from affordable health care, to early education, to fighting climate change — matter profoundly. But the biggest argument in America today concerns something even more fundamental. It is about whether the democracy we have long taken for granted can long endure. On one side in Washington today, we have Democrats and a few brave Republicans trying to do our duty under the Constitution, focusing on delivering for our constituents, finding common ground where we can, and playing by the rules when we can’t. On the other side, we have people who, out of opportunism or cowardice, are increasingly aligned with a mob that attacked the Capitol to overturn an election. Across America, the leaders who summoned and incited that mob are installing state legislators and election officials willing to nullify any election their side loses. We narrowly averted that catastrophe in 2020, because at the critical moment, men and women of integrity (including many Republicans) did stand in the breach. But in the Republican Party today, those men and women are systematically being replaced by people who do little more than lie for social media fame and political power. I do not want Kevin McCarthy to be Speaker of the House, or people like Jim Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Greene to have real power, on January 6th, 2025, when Congress certifies the winner of the next presidential election. Whether that happens or not will depend on races in a dwindling handful of House districts that can go either way. With redistricting in New Jersey complete, mine is likely to be the only competitive district in our state, and one of the few in the country. It will not be an easy race. It will be expensive, because where we see danger, Republicans see an opportunity to seize the House majority, and will invest massively in taking our district back. But at least we know where to concentrate our efforts. This is where we have to hold our ground. This is where we have to fill the breach. The game’s afoot! So follow your spirit, and upon this charge — let’s go fight and win. [Donate Today]( Tom Malinowski served as a diplomat in the Obama administration, standing up to dictators overseas. Now he's standing up for our democracy as a Congressman representing New Jersey's 7th district. Tom Malinowski for Congress P.O.
