I don’t know about you, but I love a good checklist. Every time I go on a trip, I’ll pull

I don’t know about you, but I love a good checklist. Every time I go on a trip, I’ll pull out my notebook and start writing all the things I need to pack… ...Contacts ...Glasses ...Workout clothes (wishful thinking, but I still pack them every time) ...Ten pairs of socks - yes, even for a two-day trip cause you never know! And so on. It’s the same list every time, but I get too much enjoyment out of making it to be more efficient. Which I have to explain to Stephen every time he mansplains how I could just type up the list once and reuse it. Technically, just half my enjoyment comes from making the list. ‘Cause the other half comes from crossing off each item as I pack it. There’s something just so satisfying about being able to check off that little box, you know? That’s why today, I’m passing along the satisfaction that only a good checklist can bring, in the form of my content-creation criteria… AKA: How to know if you’ve got content-creation down pat in your business. Let’s do it. Part 1: Is your content effective ? As in, is it… - Getting attention—views, clicks, likes, comments—of some sort? - Making it obvious what you do and who your business helps? - Keeping you top of mind for your ideal clients? - And of course, driving sales for your business? If every piece of content you create isn’t crossing off all of these, that’s a loss — of your time, energy, and potential sales. But if you don’t want to burn out, this next part is just as important: Part 2: Is content creation fast for you? Meaning… - Are you able to create content whenever you need to, without having to “get ready” or “plan”? - Can you fit in content creation whenever you have time - instead of blocking out a big chunk on your calendar for that dreaded “CONTENT CREATION”? - And are you able to consistently create your emails, livestreams/videos, and social media posts in 30 minutes or less? If you can’t cross off all three and you’re not yet past the 7-figure mark, then you’re spending too much time on content creation. (That you could be using to grow your business faster.) And last but not least… Part 3: Do you enjoy one of the most essential parts of your business? - Do you look forward to creating content? (Or do you dread it?) - Do you enjoy reading/watching/listening to your own content? - Do you publish every piece of content knowing your audience is looking forward to reading/watching/listening to it? Because if not, your business will suffer. Think about it: Otherwise, you dread content creation so much, or else it takes so long, that you end up not creating anything. And as a result, you lose out on potential attention or sales. Plus, even when you finally do publish something, it feels forced and doesn’t connect…so no one pays attention to it anyways. So… How’d you do? Were you able to cross out all of them? A few? None? Wherever you currently are with your content creation, the reality is undeniable... Creating lots of effective content is the one of the most effective ways to be seen, build trust, and make sales. Which requires knowing how to create EFFECTIVE content. And being able to do it FAST. While also ENJOYING it. Thankfully, being able to do all three is a skill anyone can learn. And it doesn’t have to be complicated, hard, or overwhelming either. Even if you weren’t born with the naturally fast- or prolific- or gifted- content creation gene. Take it from someone — me — who used to need over three hours to come up with a short email that wasn’t even that great. (People don’t believe me nowadays when I share that. But that’s kind of exactly the point: This really is just a skill anyone can learn.) And tomorrow, I’ll share more about how to develop this skill for yourself.
