First, I don’t believe in “competition” being a zero-sum game. Where someone else has to lose for you to win. But I do believe — and have seen — that there is always someone younger, hungrier, more ambitious, or more skilled than you are, ready to welcome your clients away from you. So you’ve got to respect that and be aware of it, while not letting it get to you. Mentally and financially. My favorite way to stay ahead of “competition” is following billionaire investor Warren Buffett’s famous advice: “A good business is like a strong castle with a deep moat around it. I want sharks in the moat to keep away those [competitors] who would encroach on the castle.” But here’s the thing when you’re in the business of selling services or information: There’s only one type of moat available to you. Because you can’t build it around your products — the barrier to entry is too low. Anyone can start selling a service or information. You can’t build it around your “intellectual property” either — that’s now how this kind of business works. And you definitely can’t build it on your business model — the model for this type is too straightforward. So what can you do? Or rather, what’s your only option against competitors drawing away your ideal clients or copying you? YOU. But honestly, that’s the best “moat” to have anyways. Because it is literally impossible to copy you . After all, you are the one and only you. Personally, understanding how to craft this type of “moat” is a huge reason why I’m able to focus on my own thing, build my business my way, and know that my moat is keeping my competitors and copycats far, far away. Even though they’ve tried to swim that LZ moat many, many times. Like those who have tried to copy my positioning for my flagship Employee to Entrepreneur program. I kid you not, I once saw someone who copied my landing page, word for word , and just changed out my picture for theirs. But you know what happened? It completely tanked for them. And they had to slink away into the night, as have all my copycats over the years, never to be seen again. Because that’s what happens when you are your own “moat.” But fair warning: To get results like this, you’ve got to do it right. Because most advice on building a personal presence or personal-based business is complete fluff. Seriously, here’s what one of my private clients literally pasted to me from her own research on how to do this: Talk about your Interests, Passions, Personal Stuff, Speak from your own experiences, Speak from the heart, Talk about what your clients are struggling with. And that's it! When I first saw this, I laughed and told her, “That’s not even the tip of the tip of the iceberg for how we’re going to build your Unforgettable presence.” Because done right, your Unforgettable-ness will flow into every part of your business: From the way you create content, your tone and voice, the stories you tell, the words you use, the way your audience relates to you, the way you craft your products, how you position them, and how they fit into your business. So that it’s not just your presence that’s Unforgettable. It’s your entire business. Unforgettable. Un-competable. Un-copyable. That’s what you’ll learn to create, for yourself, inside my brand new Unforgettable course. I’ll share with you everything I’ve figured out and done to craft an Unforgettable presence and business — that has at this point been going strong for almost a decade — without having to change a single thing about myself, despite years of people trying to tell me otherwise. And in doing so, having been able to build my business my way. To be clear: This course won’t teach you to build your business my way. It’ll show you what you need to know to infuse YOU into your business. And in doing so, build your business your way. But you will also see LZ “Behind-the-Scenes” examples for every tip, with a lot of strategy, thinking, and details I’ve never shared before. So you have not just the blueprint, but also actual proven examples to help get your creative juices flowing. So, here’s what it comes down to: If you have a burning desire to build your own unique and massively profitable online presence. If you want to attract your dream clients, while standing out as yourself , in all your brilliance and personal power. And if you want to be able to create something real, lasting, meaningful, and unique to you — that supports you in creating your dream business and income the way YOU want.
