A book I’m loving recently: Adam Grant’s Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greate

A book I’m loving recently: Adam Grant’s Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things. You know how I often say that I believe anyone can build the business of their dreams…IF they’re willing to do the work? Grant — and his science-backed research — feel the same way. Basically the book shows that achieving great things is truly not so much about genius or talent, but about developing certain character skills and learning tools that’ll help you realize your true potential. One of my biggest takeaways, which I’d never heard about before, is the idea of scaffolding. Essentially, something that helps you “build the resistance to overcome obstacles that threaten to overwhelm us and limit our growth.” An example would be a chess teacher who teaches his students creative ways to learn, like drawing cartoons about chess moves and recording rap songs about commanding the center of the board — so the fun helps them overcome the overwhelm of learning all the complicated ideas and strategies behind chess. (One of the stories Grant shares in the book.) Looking back, scaffolding has been key to my being able to build LuisaZhou.com too — even though I didn’t realize that’s what I was doing! And one of the most powerful ways I’ve done it, is by finding ways to motivate myself even when I wasn’t getting the results. So that, you know, you don’t give up too early. An important example is the strategy you choose to drive your growth. As you might know, I have a different take on this than most — who recommend social media as one of THE ways to grow. Sure, if you have a team to support you, that specializes in growing via a specific platform. Otherwise, social media is better used for deepening connection with potential clients. Which is why I do recommend new entrepreneurs use it — for that purpose . NOT as a main method for growing your audience. Because that is a game very few beginners win. And having to learn this the hard way is why so many new entrepreneurs get discouraged! Because they’re working hard on their social media, but don’t have any growth to show for it. This is where using scaffolding can come in REALLY handy. Because the best strategy will also get you wins that are able to keep you going until the big results come in. Which is yet another reason why I love using blogging as a main growth driver. Because not only is it usually a shorter wait before you start seeing results, but also — and possibly even more importantly for when you’re newer and less confident? You’ve got plenty of “wins” you can be motivated by in the interim. Like the win of being able to add a piece of high-value content to your website, knowing it’ll continue to attract ideal clients to you for the rest of your business’ life. Or the win of getting a link to your article. Or seeing it climb up in search rankings. Or watching your Google Analytics to see your website traffic grow bit by bit. As simple as this might sound in retrospect, it actually took me four years before I figured this out. (Because I was so busy buying into all the popular unwisdoms.) But so be it, because those four years of trial and error taught me that there really is no strategy more effective — not only for relatively faster results, but also for keeping you motivated so you don’t give up on your dreams. So if you’re feeling tired of pushing through on sheer willpower, and are craving a more reliable, tangible way to grow, I’ve got you. Here’s how I can help… Learn the strategy so you understand how to make it work for you: [Watch a free masterclass explaining the strategy]( . Or if you already know you want to use this to grow your business: [Enroll in Clients Come to Me]( to get the full system with step-by-steps, templates, guides, and Q&A support. Or if you want us to do it FOR you: [Hire my team]( to do it all for you so you don’t have to worry about a thing. (Your business does need to be at 6-figures or more in annual revenue for this option to be a good fit.)
