Here’s how the Sales, Simplified. process took a scared-of-selling, busy mom from no sales to a breakthrough month: Step 1: Shift the way you view — and do — selling. So you genuinely enjoy it, believe in what you’re selling, and can sell with confidence and authenticity. Like a lot of my clients, Joanna came from a successful corporate background, and she was scared of what people would think about her if they saw her trying to sell something. So first, we had to address her fears, guilt, and negative beliefs about selling. This is so often overlooked, but it’s SO important. Because people can tell if you don’t fully believe in what you’re doing and selling! And as soon as they realize that, no strategy or tactic in the world will be able to persuade them to buy from you. Step 2: Learn how to get your dream clients to care. So they’re actually paying attention to you and thinking about buying from you. Like every new entrepreneur, Joanna faced some big challenges: She didn’t have any client testimonials, business reputation, or a ton of content potential clients could use to build trust in her. The good news is, all these challenges are surmountable if you understand why people buy and how to adjust your messaging to establish trust and connection from the get-go. Step 3. Understand your strategy options. And how to choose the best one for YOU. This is key. Because it’s not about the “right” strategy. It’s about understanding how to choose the right strategy that’s the right fit for you and the stage of business you’re in. Once Joanna learned this, she was able to pick the best sales strategies for her — which also meant she was also able to stop trying to force herself to do things that didn’t fit her strengths or desires. (Like social media, in her case.) Step 4. Know the simplest way to execute. So you can get the best results for your time and work invested. Because when you understand the strategy and what matters, the execution usually boils down to just a few things. Which is how Joanna was able to finally get sales. Plus fit all her to-do’s into her schedule, while also being a busy mom of two young kids. To use her own words: “I've been getting leads and clients more often lately from [strategies that are a good fit for HER]…and I signed 2 clients this month (and possibly one more coming!).” With another exciting update before the end of the month: “I actually did sign a third client and she paid in full too!
