Some sage advice from one of the best: The late Kobe Bryant. AKA “Black Mamba.” Specifical

Some sage advice from one of the best: The late Kobe Bryant. AKA “Black Mamba.” Specifically, how he systematically turned himself from a teenage underdog into one of the best basketball players of all time. --------------------------------------------------------------- When I’d play, I’d play to my weaknesses. I was working on the things during those games that I was weak at. So I have a strategy… Why did those airballs happen? Got it. I didn’t have the legs. So you look at the shot, every shot was inline…but every shot was short. I got to get stronger, I got to train differently. Next year, my legs will be there. You have to do the hard stuff and watch that game and study that game…to not make those mistakes over and over again just b/c you weren’t brave enough to face it. You gotta deal with it. Face it, learn from it. --------------------------------------------------------------- More real than 99% of the success “advice” out there. Especially the popular unwisdom to not worry too much about your weaknesses and instead double down on your strengths. It’s a fine line, but walking it isn’t hard either: Yes, absolutely play to your strengths. That includes choosing the business and business model that fits you best, and using the strategies that fit your strengths and desires the most. That’s why I’ve chosen strategies that literally pay me to do what I love most and am best at — thinking and creating, especially writing. But no matter how much you’re naturally suited for a certain type of business or strategy, you still need that Mamba Mentality if you’re serious about making it work for you. I don’t have to do it these days. But because I’ve put in almost ten years of practice. (Important when you’re learning from someone to distinguish what they do now versus what they had to do to be able to get there . Most creators don’t make this distinction and instead only teach what they’re doing now. As harmful, and pointless, as trying to teach a toddler to skip the whole “walking” thing and jump right into running a marathon.) But there was a time, mostly in my first five-ish years of building LZ Land, when I Mamba’fied every email I wrote. Not to mention every webinar, social media post, and livestream. For example, if a strategy didn’t get the result I wanted, my train of thought usually ran (and still does) something like this… --------------------------------------------------------------- Alright, that sucked. Let’s just get that out of the way first. OK, whew, felt into that. Alright, why did that happen though? Did I understand it properly and actually implement (the strategy or thing) correctly? Or did I just totally miss the mark? Well, what about it worked ? OK let me do more of that. But what about it didn’t work? Well, people were interested in the topic, but my delivery just totally fell flat. Why didn’t it work? Why did it fall flat? OK, yeah, NOW I can see how it probably came across as really boring, maybe a little self-centered, and actually…really hard to read too. Alright, so what do I need to do to fix what didn’t work? OK next version let’s focus more on making it about the person reading this. And let’s add a little more of my personality to this too. Gotta work on my communication skills. What do I need to do to improve that… --------------------------------------------------------------- The point being: Yes you absolutely can build your own Freedom Business. IF you’re willing to put in the work. Including picking yourself up and learning from the many, many “failures” you’ll have along the way. Because the differentiator is NOT: How high your vibe is, how innately talented you are, or how lucky you are. It IS: How analytical and diligent you can be when learning from your failures.
