Storytime: Once there was a king with three daughters, whom he loved. But because the youngest daughter was a bit more introverted and thoughtful, he wasn’t sure if she loved him as much as her sisters did. So he asked each of them, “How much do you love me?” (I first heard this story as a kid and didn’t think anything of it. But now that I’m telling it, I’m realizing…man, this guy was insecure . But let’s ignore that, ‘cause this is just a story — at least I think — and focus on the story.) The eldest princess said, “As much as bread!” The king was pretty happy about that because, well…they ate bread all the time at every meal. The second princess said, “As much as wine!” The king liked that answer too, since they drank wine every day. But then the youngest princess answered, “As much as salt!” And he got sooo mad. Why would his daughter compare her love to something so humble and small? She must not love him at all! So he banished her to a secluded part of the castle, and ordered her to stay there for the rest of her life. Thankfully, the princess was one smart lady. So she asked the king’s chef for an important favor: “Please make the king’s dinner the best and most delicious you can…but don’t add a single grain of salt.” Upon eating dish after dish of beautifully prepared but inedible, salt-less food, the king realized the error of his thinking and unbanished the princess. And they all lived happily ever after. 😛 Before writing this email, I checked with Stephen to see if he’d heard this story before. “No, why?” When I explained that I wanted to share it to illustrate the power of salt (and something else, which we’ll get to in just a second), he nodded. And then casually responded, “Yeah, empires were made from salt.” A man of few words who gets right to the point. ❤️ The point being that the equivalent of salt these days? Just as common, but also just as powerful — literally being able to make empires as well… Your words. When used poorly, it’s like under- or over-salting your business…it’s just not very attractive or desirable. Even if you have the best offer and can deliver the best results, it’s like beautifully prepared but unsalted food. Missing that key ingredient that makes the world of difference. Which means you and your business are doomed to continually get passed over. While those whose products and services might not be as good as yours stand out and take your dream clients from you. Just because they’re better at using their “salt.” But on the flip side, when used just right… When you’ve got full command of your seasoning and know just how to use your words to connect with your customers? Well, that’s how you make your offers the most desired dishes around. If that sounds like your jam (Promise, that was my last food mention! You feeling a little hungry yet? 😂), I highly recommend checking out my Client Captivation training: [luisazhou.com/client-captivation]( The training is like the topic it teaches: Simple, seemingly “humble”…and yet, very effective.
