An analogy you might find helpful today: You know how different students use different approaches to get into the college of their dreams? Study hard and get amazing grades. Play sports. Do music. Donate a new wing to the college. No matter how , the result is bringing something attractive to the college, so that the school decides, “Yeah, this person’s a good fit.” It’s not that any of these “strategies” don’t work… In fact, they all do. But it’s about what works best for YOU. Like if I had tried to get in by playing sports? Well, let’s just put it this way: Once in high school, we had to take a fitness test which included seeing how far you can throw a basketball. I gave it my best shot. I really did. But when it was my turn…the coaches burst out laughing at my unbelievable lack of upper body strength. So sports just weren’t a fit for me . When it comes to growing your business, it’s the same idea… You gotta figure out the way that works best for YOU to attract your dream customers. That might mean crushing it on social media. Or being a whiz with ads. But for most people, especially if you don’t consider yourself a natural marketer, the way that works best is this: Share what you know. Let your experience and expertise speak for themselves. It’s how you attract the highest-quality clients anyways. Those who don’t need to be convinced that investing in themselves is the most powerful thing they can do. Who appreciate the value of your time and attention. And who are happy to pay you, because they know you get what you pay for. Just like what each school looks for in an “ideal student” is similar – Someone who’ll add to the class, be a good fit, and make the school look good. What top customers are looking for in their “ideal” coach, consultant, or teacher is similar too – Someone who’s really good at what they do, and who feels like a fit for them. That’s what your content demonstrates — at least, when done right. And that’s basically all SEO is! You create that content on your website. And you follow a few straightforward rules to make sure that content gets found by your ideal clients. Plus, I don’t know about you, but I LOVE it when things are straightforward like this: Publish xx number of posts per month (just one when you’re starting out — all we did for two years, to get to multiple 6-figures via SEO, was publish one post a month) to get yy results. Do a, b, and c this many times to make sure you get found. Include this, this, and this in your post to make sure it not only gets you found, but also speaks to what your ideal customers are looking for. It’s not easy, but it’s work I can get behind: You can literally see your effort paying off on your website — a body of work you can be proud of. Plus, you can also literally see the results too — your traffic and subscribers increasing month after month. In my opinion, this is the dream strategy for coaches, consultants, and course creators. Anyone who leads — and sells — through their knowledge, expertise, and experience. Because here’s what it boils down to: A way (and in my opinion the best way) to grow. The “strategy” just happens to use SEO. If you’re tired of the inconsistency of social media, the rising cost of paid ads, or the grind of having to constantly source new collabs, it might be worth it for you to at least watch the free training walking you through the Clients Come to Me system.
