A much better way to make sales… In March 2012, Michael Dubin published a video of him walking through a warehouse, wisecracking about the challenges of buying a simple razor. The video was silly — you got to watch him cutting packing tape with a sword, getting pulled in a tiny wagon, and dancing with an employee in a bear costume — and thus, interesting. More importantly... It also spoke to a serious problem. Razors are expensive and way too hard to get at the grocery store. Because of this winning combination, his video went viral and drove over 12,000 orders within 48 hours for his new business, Dollar Shave Club. Which eventually sold to Unilever for $1 Billion. Although Dubin did it a billion times better than most, what he did isn’t new: He simply figured out a way to make it interesting for his customers to be sold to. It’s not a coincidence that my sales philosophy is remarkably similar: Create products that solve people’s problems Then, sell them in a way that makes it interesting for people to be “sold to.” As a result… ...Even during weeks when I send lots of sales emails, my open rates are double the industry average.
