Specifically, it happened in college. Even more specifically, at Princeton — where we both went, just five years apart. Except our experiences were completely different: Me? I’d decided grades didn’t matter anywhere. So with that short-sighted outlook, I breezily skipped half my classes and crammed / barely passed through the other half. Thankfully, my little sister was way more mature than I. Which is why I happily assumed she’d had the fulfilling college experience I had self-sabotaged myself out of. That is, until I heard this heart-breaking story from my mom a few years after we’d both graduated: Your sister called me crying and asked… “Why didn’t Lui prepare me for college?” “She could have told me how hard the classes were. Which ones to avoid. And the easy ones to balance my workload. Why didn’t she tell me anything?” The truth is, because of how I spent my college career, I couldn’t have told her any of that even if I’d thought of it! But if you’re an older sibling, or have an older sibling who’s always looked out for you, then you know how I felt hearing this story. After all, this was my baby sister — who I had taught to read; to ride a bike; who I coached for her first job interviews; who I wanted to protect from everything bad in the world. She had every right to expect her big sister would tell her the ins and outs. Because that’s what those who go before us — our parents, older siblings, friends, and mentors — are supposed to do! The same is true in business too. Except most of us don’t have someone in our personal lives to turn to for tried-and-true business advice. I certainly didn’t. Even though I hired a LOT of coaches and mentors, they were only able to help me with the bits and pieces that they knew. But none of them had done exactly what I wanted to do. As a result of not having a business “older sister,” here are just a few of the big mistakes I’ve made over the years: - Hiring the wrong type of accountant who knew nothing about my industry. (All the tax penalty notices I got as a result throughout my second year of business gave me mail-opening ptsd) - Using an online business-ignorant lawyer to draw up my first online legal terms. (It cost me thousands of dollars to get new terms from scratch because the ones they created weren’t even technically legal) - Not knowing when or who to hire for my team, which cost me tens of thousands of dollars in hiring mistakes over the years (and probably slowed my business growth significantly too) - Wasting way too much time, money, and energy trying to fix my sales rates and profit margins because I had no idea what the standard for “good” was. (Turns out, my numbers were great and those resources would have been better used on growing my business, or personal investments, or really anything other than what I wasted them on) All things that could have been avoided if I’d simply had someone to turn to. That’s one of the reasons I created [Freedom Decoded](. Yes, the course will help you build your systems, team, and automation so that you can have a true Freedom Business and hit your income goals while creating the lifestyle you want. And that in of itself is huge. However, there’s another not-so-obvious takeaway from the course, which might be even more important for you: It’ll fill you in on the “insider knowledge” for building an online coaching/course business so you can skip the mistakes and know what to expect. I’m talking about things that are often costly pitfalls for new entrepreneurs, but that are obvious to someone who’s been through it. Essentially, it’s like having a “big sister” to turn to for your business. So the next time you’re wondering… ...Is this [aka unsubscribes, profit margin, time spent] normal? ...Am I focusing on the right thing? ...Am I doing this in the best way possible? You won’t have to wonder. Because you’ll know exactly where to go. Building a business is hard enough. Give yourself the gift of not making it even harder by having to reinvent the wheel or figure out what you don’t even know you don’t know. If you want to, you can get yourself that gift right here: [luisazhou.com/freedom-decoded]( That is, until enrollment closes tonight at 11:59pm Pacific.
