That time I got the most life-changing business advice ever (not): Random guy: “You NEED to start a membership site…” Me: “Mmm…I have other products that serve the same purpose.” Random Guy: “Oh no, that’s not the same thing. You see, a membership site gives you recurring revenue . So-and-so grew their business to this much because of their membership site! You really need one.” Regretfully, I’ll never learn just how much I really needed a membership site, because at that moment, my friend—who also happened to be the host of the event—jumps in… “Do you know how much her business did last year?” After that, Random Guy went out of his way to avoid me for the rest of the weekend. (For full context, Random Guy’s full name is, “Random Guy Who’s Even Never Started a Business in His Life.”) Maybe it’s the “Asian” in me. (AKA, keep a low profile whenever possible) Or maybe it’s simply my contrarian nature. Whatever it is, I used to get a kick out of going to business events because it happens every time (although I don’t go too often anymore because when this is the highlight…well): Some “well-meaning” guy (yes, it’s always a guy)— who doesn’t even have a business (or barely a business) —will try and tell me exactly what I need to do to grow mine. Because, unfortunately, that’s the kind of “advice” being thrown around lately. That whole attitude of you HAVE to run your business this way, because “everyone” says so, or “so-and-so” is doing it this way, and as long as you follow that specific tactic to the letter you’re bound to succeed as well… Without even understanding the point of a specific strategy or tactic… And whether or not it even applies to you… Well, frankly, I can’t think of a faster way to failure. Building an online business does NOT have to be complicated. And yes, there are a lot of tried and true strategies and steps you can follow. But, you do also have to learn to think for yourself so you can use them in the best way for you…and your personality, situation, strengths, and goals. If you want to understand how to build a real business; how to make each strategy actually work for you; what even applies to you (and what doesn’t); and thus how to actually use the ones that DO fit you and your goals—so you actually get results (unlike Random Guy, who I bet you anything still doesn’t have a business)… Here’s what I’ve got for you… If you’re starting out building a business to replace your 9-to-5: [The 4-Step Formula I Used to Build My Coaching Business and Replace My Salary BEFORE I Left my 9-5]( If you’re ready to go from 1-on-1 work to no longer trading time for money: [How to successfully create & sell your own online course for true financial freedom]( Or, if you’re ready to scale to multiple 6- to 7-figures: [How to Go from Hustling Coach/Course Creator to 7-Figure Business Owner]( Luisa Zhou --------------------------------------------------------------- [Unsubscribe]( Zhou Ventures, Inc., 54 State Street, Ste 804 #5511 Albany, NY 12207
