I was shocked the first time I shared the story of my “blue jacket.” In high school, I wore the same jacket almost every day. And it was an example of how my parents instilled focus, to make sure I studied my best and could get into the best school possible. (Because their school of thought - pun intended! - was that if you could get into a good college, you’d be set for life.) How so? Aside from studies and extracurriculars, everything else is a distraction. Like hanging out with friends, going to the movies, or… Thinking about clothes. Thus the one jacket - ‘cause really, that’s all you actually need. Now, I’m not saying I’d raise my kids the same way. But my parents did the best they could, which is all a kid can ask for. But I share this story because that’s what it took for ME to get into Princeton. It’s my experience. Plus, while everyone loves talking about achieving big dreams, few like to talk the truth about what it takes. Because then you get responses like this: “Right so no friends, no phone, no social media (which you have by posting this video), no tv, no life” Or this: “So long story short, don’t have any joy in your life and you too can attend a reputable college 😀 👍” Everyone supports you in “having your dreams”...until you start talking about actually doing what it takes to get it. I’m not saying that you need to work harder. You can if you want to. But the point of having your own business is to have it… your way . One of the most powerful realizations I had in my business was the moment I realized that. When I realized I was waiting for permission to be able to build the business I wanted, the way I wanted. Because when I realized that, I also realized: The only thing you actually need is your own permission. And that’s the reminder I hope you take away from this week’s Youtube video: [My top tips as an INTROVERT entrepreneur]( Along with some really good tips too of course 🙂.
