what happened when I tried to learn kung fu As a kid, I begged my dad to teach me how to meditate. (I had convinced myself it was the foundation for learning the cool kungfu I’d seen in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.) Here’s what I learned: Step One: Master your mind by clearing your thoughts for an hour. Step Two: … I never got that far because I gave up after about five minutes. So that’s my (failed) version of The Karate Kid. Daniel did it way better than I. Even though he gets frustrated, at least he still does all the seemingly unrelated and simplistic things that his teacher, Mr. Miyagi, tells him to do. Like waxing a car, sanding the floor, and painting the fence. Where he essentially does the same motion hundreds, if not thousands of times. As it turns out, Mr. Miyagi (and my dad) knew what he was talking about. Because practicing those few basic movements so many times is how Daniel was able to truly master them. Which is why he was able to ultimately excel at karate. While I didn’t learn that lesson in time to master kungfu, I did thankfully learn it relatively early on in this business. The lesson being: Work as hard as you can to NOT overcomplicate things. So you can focus on mastering the few “moves” that matter. Over the years, a question I’ve gotten a lot from my top clients is… “What more can I do?” Because behind that question is the unspoken fear… “What am I missing out on? Is this ‘it’? What other ‘one thing’ am I missing that’s going to skyrocket my growth?” Let’s be clear. There’s a lot of work to be done when it comes to building your business. But the work lies in this “simple” formula: Great great content and product(s). Share them. Repeat. Want more work to do? Create better content. Share it wider and further. Make your products better. Make more of them. Help your clients get better results. Learn how to better explain how your products help people. (AKA sales.) Get better at these things. Then, repeat. Obviously, you can go very deep with this. And it’s not “easy.” But it is simple. And if you keep at it, keep focused on these few things that matter most to your business, you’ll most likely get bigger and faster results than any other more complicated, fancy, shiny new thing. So, since we’re on the topic of martial arts today, let me wrap it up with a great quote from the one and only Bruce Lee: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” Luisa Zhou PS - When you’re ready, choose your own adventure… If you’re starting out building a business to replace your 9-to-5: [The 4-Step Formula I Used to Build My Coaching Business and Replace My Salary BEFORE I Left my 9-5]() If you’re ready to go from 1-on-1 work to no longer trading time for money: [How to successfully create & sell your own online course for true financial freedom](=) And, if you’re ready to scale to multiple 6- to 7-figures: [How to Go from Hustling Coach/Course Creator to 7-Figure Business Owner](=) [Facebook]( [YouTube]( [Instagram]( [Unsubscribe]( Zhou Ventures, Inc.
