Say the first word that comes to mind so you don’t overthink it! When I say “money,”

Say the first word that comes to mind so you don’t overthink it! When I say “money,” you say... (Quick, say the first word that comes to mind so you don’t overthink it!) I know what my least favorite aunt-in-law’s answer would be. Before you could blink, she’d tell you, with complete sincerity… “A man.” How do I know? When I was 12-years-old (TWELVE YEARS OLD!!), she sat me down with her daughter, also my least favorite cousin, and taught us an amazingly profound and motivating life lesson: “Marry a rich man.” (And in case you’re wondering, no, my uncle wasn’t rich. So...I guess it's a case of do what I say not what I do?) Anyways, thank goodness I didn’t listen to her. But if you’d asked me just a few years ago, my answer wouldn’t have been that much better than hers. I’d have shouted at you (since the cool kid in me gets all excited and shout-y when I know the answer to a question)... “SECURITY!!”* Because that’s what money meant to me. (Well, at least first and foremost. Let’s not get into alllll the other things it meant to someone who’d grown up vowing she’d make enough money so her loved ones would never have to say, “I can’t afford it.”) That’s why for so long I hung on to my hard-earned, “secure,” six-figure salary for dear life. Because no matter how much I wanted to leave my job, and how many times I said I was going to do it, I wasn’t really about to risk that security. That is, until I realized… You know what’s actually more secure than relying on an employer who pays you what THEY think you’re worth and could lay you off at a moment’s notice because of circumstances that you have no control over? The answer: Having the skills and confidence to be in control of your income, no matter what’s going on in the world. I know which one I’d rather depend on. But hey, theory’s boring. Let’s talk about real life. Take Lauren, an ETE’er who is a Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) diet coach. And who started her business in the midst of the COVID pandemic... [image] From no idea to first three clients while recovering from lyme disease ...in the midst of the COVID pandemic So how do you create this kind of security for yourself? Step 1: Solve a problem. Step 2: Know how to find and connect with your potential clients. Step 3: Know how to explain your solution in a way that connects with potential clients and makes sales. Step 4: Repeat. (While systematizing and scaling the process so you have even more control over your income and schedule.) The key is that this works no matter what’s going on outside of your control. Because there will always be people who want your help solving their problem. Luisa Zhou PS - By the way, serious shoutout to Lauren because when she joined Employee to Entrepreneur, she wasn’t sure what business she could build. She followed the ETE process, didn’t waste time trying to find an “idea,” and instead used the ETE steps to figure out what problems she could solve. Then, while recovering from Lyme disease, and building a business in a very targeted niche -- Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) diet coaching -- and doing so in the midst of a pandemic, she continued following the ETE steps to get her first three clients in just a few weeks. PPS - *In case you’re wondering, my answer nowadays is a little different: “Choice.” Well, kind of. The first word that popped into mind was actually “Freedom.” But when I thought about it (yeah, I know I told you not to do that but I couldn’t help it!), I realized that that’s not exactly true. But it does give you a lot more choices. Not having to marry a rich man being at the top of that list. [Facebook]( [YouTube]( [Instagram]( [Unsubscribe]( Zhou Ventures, Inc. P.O.
